I think universities are missing a course on writing a simulator of all the things you learned, e.g. Maxwell's equations and semiconductor physics for EE.

From my understanding, newer deepfakes will always outdate current detections, and there will always be some work around for them. This is why I think community reporting system is superior to all automatic ones. It relies on human reasoning, on how likely is that the video is real, when they will be impossible to be distinguished visually and acoustically. I don't know how YouTube will address this, or if they will even address it at all. I know YouTube deleted lots of channels that were generating slops, but I don't think they will do anything for the deepfakes that are about to come. We'll see how problematic will that become for YouTube and how feasible would be for them to implement a solution to that. And it's also probably going to be a premium feature. We'll see. Do you actually have background playback with locked screen? With the latest iOS video will auto pause when screen goes locked in PiP.

I’m on iOS 26.5 and for some reason background playback continues smoothly even when locking the screen.

Are you using Safari?

Yes, nothing fancy.

The latest iOS release made this more difficult to do via Safari.

I use skipvids.com audio (aud button) mode. It works most of the time in Safari on iOS. You can also watch in PiP (Picture-in-picture) mode.

I am glad someone is writing about this youtube on Chrome desktop regularly consumes over 1 gig of ram. Even running it on FF with uBlock doesn't seem to help much.
