Incredible news and momentum. The entire land will have an advanced smart renewable grid that scales to any size and is very fault-tolerant and self-recovering. It is beautiful to observe the Melting Pot producing great ideas and vast installations of great systems. Great job all around and it's encouraging to observe communities joining forces and brains to work on planet-scale problems. Godspeed, USA! The Melting Pot will continue to lead the world in producing cultural exchange and elevation for all communities.

10 years later is absolutely not "just getting started". We built Web 1 in 5 year and web 2 in 5 years, complete, with uncountable real businesses generating actual profits and user value. Web 3 has had far more time and far more money and people invested than Web 1 and 2 combines and has yet to demonstrate any real business or user value. What a joke. What a scam.

It's a red flag when your power generation system needs more security than Fort Knox.


I like what Sam Altman suggested. OpenAI should open source all aspects of ChatGPT immediately and be reimbursed via tax revenue in the form of totalCostsThusFar * 7 so that each employee gets 7 years of their compensation paid for, so they can take a sabbatical and then contribute to building plugins.

Run the model itself and the plugin store as distributed simple software that runs on the common internet backbone.

Make it as simple as Google search used to be, but with the resources of the government behind it. Privacy and security guaranteed by the Constitution and the American military. Free chalice of knowledge for all.

Then roll out the same compensation structure for all who build plugins people want. We know what plugin and api iPhone moments look like.

Make training additional models 1% of American GDP each year moving forward and reinvest that into plugin development and general self development grants for technology companies that make a difference in making things better.


What makes you think total costs and total salaries are even close to the same? What makes you think the company getting that amount of money means the employees getting the same amount?

I mean the blind spots you have are just way too numerous, large and fundamental to even bother with your comment.


Those questions aren't blind spots at all. Those types of problems are very easy to solve, just think about it like a child would. "Keep paying people for 7 years"

Every employee at Open AI gets their current comp for the next seven years. The idea is to turn this into an open library or model in its entirety so that anyone can run it on their own harwdware and so that training costs go down more.


It's not replicating it that is impressive. That part is easy. Of course consciousness wouldn't be that hard. Of course it would be mostly an emergent property of various building blocks. Of course homo sapiens would eventually be able to do the same thing.

The impressive part is replicating it and then teaching it real Love. Love is a choice. Producing life that chooses to make that choice and defend that choice is impressive.


I think this is the same problem. How would you measure when a human is taught love? How would you differentiate that from measuring when one of these programs is taught love?

It feels like it always boils down to: 1) you can’t. Or 2) “trust me, it’s different.”


It's simple - observe what the candidate does when they have to show true love in order to move on to the next level. If they fail, they don't move on to the next level.


That works until the AI is crashing both trolleys at the very end to get to Meryl Streep.
