At 44 I took a gap year. I biked across the USA, then bike toured in Europe, then backpacked around Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Never got around to improving my tech skills or working on projects. Got back into the job market afterwards without much drama. Best thing I ever did. Do t waste the year sitting in front of a keyboard.
