So does Vancouver company sanctuary A I is purportedly building general purpose, learning robots and working on AGI. This is highly dubious. I have a background in machine learning and AI and I can tell that they are tele- operating the robots while trying to give an impression of autonomy. I looked at their leadership team and there's no deep technical expertise in the fields of robotics or AI. I went to school with one of the founders, and know the other founder and she has an undergraduate degree in computer engineering from University of Calgary, no specific education OR experience in AI (She worked as an Oil and gas consultant for a few years after school). If I was building a company working on AGI I would be looking for veterans Silicon valley engineers or people from Berkeley, Stanford, MIT University of Toronto with education, and published papers, research and experience in that domain. . They have none of that. All they have is vaporware.
There are in fact real companies working on AGI and general purpose learning robots from Google's everyday robotics and robotics transformer RT-X model, Berkeley AI research lab ,covariant AI, Toyota and bunch of other research Labs around the world. They are using foundation models and LLMs as "brains", cross embodiment robotics training data.. of these robots and they're making progress.
This company is giving an impression trying to give an impression they are much further away than they are. I don't think they will ever amount to anything and yet they're trying to raise hundreds of millions of dollars in venture capital in Series B (Already got 100 million in Series A, including30 million from Canada innovation fund). This is a massive missallocation of resources in my opinion
Carnivore is FOOLISH. There is no Scientific evidence whatsover that it benefits anything aside from short term weight loss, at the detriment of your health. I would get my whole genome sequenced and get a genetic counselor. Get a personal trainer and an expert on human performance (Get tested from athletic labs you can measure your VO2 max, RMR, Body composition and create a workout routine optimizing for longevity and health) Eat a varied diet rich in Vegetables like Broccoli, spinach, Kale..Carrots (8 servings every dinner 365 days a week), healthy fats like Extra virgin olive oil, Wild Salmon, Sardines, avocadoes, ALmonds, nuts seeds. Spend 1000-1500 a month on groceries if you have to. Get enough sleep, reduce stress, keep purpose and and social connection. Keep up to date with your screenings (Blood test measure Hemoglobin h1c, LDLc, HDLc, get a NMR lipoprofile if you want to), get a private doctor if you have to that is more like a personal trainer and optimizes health rather than just treat disease. Also consider getting on Metformin, Rapamycin and possibly Statins if your LDL Triglycerides etc are high. Avoid too much sun exposure, toxins, polluted air. Get a air purifier...And consider GLP-1 agonist.
Most think that cholesterol and LDL is bad and the direct cause of cardiovascular disease.
Most just parrot wrong and frankly dangerous dietary advice. Choosing a dietary plan by throwing a coin is literally better than following the advice of most people, even doctors. Hell, we've gone from recommending low fat to vegan diets for health, while still demonising low carb diets because of misinformation that's 70 years old, and American religious lobbies pushing vegetarianism. Wikipedia still calls low carb diets a "fad", while no such moniker is attached to vegan diets that have only been possible since the 1930s with the discovery of vitamin B12 and its subsequent synthesis.
LOW skill people worry about immigration. When I create a job position it goes out to EVERY qualified person from the world, and that is how should it be. There are no such things as "Canadian" jobs or "American Jobs". IF you can't accept it GTFO of Tech. I hire people from IIT, Tsinghua, Oxford, Cambridge, Caltech, Stanford. You want GOVERNMENT to protect you from your incompetence?
After watching the best, most world class programmers in the world, who already worked on things for Blizzard, Microsoft, Meta, etc. get laid off, it’s pretty clear it’s a lie and not about “incompetence” or “competition” - record profits and layoffs of world class people? Clearly it’s a lie to boost the earnings of wealthy people.

Then Up your skills. Don't compete in that space. If you can so easily be replaced by people from India making less than 10 dollars an hour, it is time to upskill. This reeks of anti immigration bias. There is no such thing as an American or Canadian job.
Really disappointed at the suspension. Seems like a knee jerk reaction, although cruise should have been more transparent.
At this point we should have 4 or 5 self driving car companies testing on public roads not just 2 companies (Waymo and Cruise I don't count Tesla to be self driving but driver assist, the 2 are waymo and Cruise), in Two cities (Phoenix and San Franscio, although LA< Houston Dallas coming soon).
In 2015 I anticipated by early 2020s we would have self driving taxis in a dozen US metro cities not just two. What can we do to accelerate the transition towards this fantastic future? Also Canada so far behind.
