What these people need is the kind of person who specializes in disaster management. It really doesn't feel like what they have there should be unrecoverable.

Its an interesting question. I think that if you're going to have more than one person leading, they should typically be leading separate parts of the business (sales / tech).

The problem with a single individual managing responsibilities is that there are still plenty of tasks that need to be done so it becomes a question of what you can automate and what you can outsource for as cheap as possible. Basically, good delegation and management skills.

I like it. Seriously, 12 years is a long time to be milking stuff.

Might be good to schedule both some personal learning time as well as scheduling time for the tea to share new insights and discuss standards they think are worth adopting.

If you want company standards, you can use software like Brainshark to build presentation slides with questions that can be answered and reviewed so that you can be sure that people understand and are on the same page.

Switching to anger is a practical way of dealing with disappointment - it makes it easier to move forward and take action... Your comment may help some people get over being rejected and its not like YC is affected by how people they rejected handle things.

Looks cute - like something that deserves to stick around. Although the game didn't seem all that interesting.

What they probably need is better feedback on how to make it more engaging, and some way to port their work out of Flash... which could be doable with some ingenuity.

A thousand bucks to buy and install is kinda steep for minor comfort. If the company / apartment complex already does it, then its something cool, but otherwise its coming out of your paycheck and that money can buy other cool things that you might care about more.
