I’m not close to being a network engineer but having been in Florida for work, I couldn’t help but feel that their network infrastructure was off in some way. Miami felt like a black hole, with network traffic being sucked down to it even if you were up in the northern end of the state.
The true backbone of the American economy, the logistics network and supply chain. Most do not think about how their cheap Chinese plastic garbage is delivered to their door, only how quickly and for the lowest cost. If you really think about it, the engine of our consumption based economy is the humble cardboard box and pallet. Take stuff out of one box to put in another box so it can be opened somewhere else and be placed in another box to be opened up again and thrown away.
I really enjoyed the interview, and I definitely resonate with the art being free from so called “value” as an asset, truly a pure from of artistic creation and expression. I am curious to know more about the scene and it sounds like they would be welcoming to n00bs, you guys recommend any upcoming live events to keep track of?
The biggest pure demoscene event is Revision in Saarbrücken, Germany. The 2026 edition has yet to be announced, but it is always during the Easter week-end. They have a dedicated newbie corner if you are interested https://2025.revision-party.net/about/newcomers/
I assume moderators disable comments (automatically or manually) on such dummy posts because they usually don't contribute to the conversation, such as by posting just "thank you" or some comment about the article that'd be better suited as a top-level comment
(Not that I necessarily agree with this practice. Don't decapitate the messenger)
Nice work man, I always love seeing open source efforts especially in areas dominated by a few companies such as dassault and auto desk. On a somewhat related note, I’m excited for the nascent forays into context aware CAD using current llms.
Google Allo as a replacement for hangouts. Launched without web access and eventually was added by scanning a QR code on a webpage that was per device, needing a new pairing for new devices. So instead of having access like you normally would on hangouts by signing in to your google account on a laptop and desktop, you had to manually add your device. Sometimes it wouldn't work and I forget the particular details but it was a massive step backwards in functionality and Google still hasn't created anything worthy of replacing hangouts. Not to mention the fact that getting users to switch to another chat app was a pain just to have it shelved after like a year. This among many other reasons are why I ended up getting an Iphone out of necessity.
Bumping for visibility.
