> Photographs and videos filmed by victims and witnesses to the incident and reviewed by Human Rights Watch showed pagers exploding in various locales, such as grocery stores. Other videos that appear to be linked to the incident show adults and children in emergency rooms with severe penetrating traumatic injuries to their heads, torsos. and limbs, and other injuries consistent with the detonation of high explosives.
What do you think that proves? Thousands of pagers exploded. 50 unlucky bystanders explains your article.
I looked harder and found that Hezbollah has admitted that most of the victims were the intended targets, Hezbollah members.
>Hezbollah, also a major Shiite political party with a wide network of social institutions, has acknowledged that most of those wounded and killed were its fighters or personnel.
The videos show Hezbollah members explode in public, but nearby civilians were unharmed. The explosive material was only a few grams. It didn’t even kill most people that were holding on to it, just maimed them with groin, hand, and eye damages
Turkey is an inheritor of the Eastern Roman Empire tradition/influences. So is Russia. It depends on your historical influences and political role models.
The issue isn't disagreement with the elite. It's that the actual political conversation, the process of disagreeing with the elite, is deliberately targeted and made more chaotic and less productive. The public can't settle on a real narrative and realistic demands to present to the elites.
The issue is disagreement with the elite, that's why whenever a protest become a bit too public or critics start to be a bit more heard they always accuse Russia to be behind, even when it's totally ridiculous
There are 20 different political parties in my country's parliament. Every night politicians spend hours yelling at eachother in talk shows. Disagreement is our way of life.
A tiny minority (especially a people of the book) that knows their place isn't offensive to Islamic nationalism. The jizya system is designed for this.
A Jewish majority state in the middle of the land of the Muslims is pretty offensive to Islamic nationalism though.
I'm observing the same tactic in the gangster series Mobland.
When pressuring a witness, etc, the gangster will always end the intimidation with making the victim repeat whatever humiliating or farcical line the gangster wants to be the new reality. It's forcing a visible submission.
Is that the case? That's not the impression I got from the reporting. Do you recommend anything in particular I should read to verify your view?
