The issue of the maintainers sanity is the onslaught of random people or LLM's submitting packages, So how is not both quotes equally valid for the intended outcome of describing the restrictions required as to collaborate???
You're right that the outcome may be similar, in that trivial contributions are discouraged. But the reasoning to getting there is completely different. Sqlite's copyright.html talks about copyright, not about maintainer overload.
An otherwise overloaded maintainer of another project may probably be willing to accept individual brilliant contributions from brilliant contributors. Sqlite will not, no matter how brilliant, if the contributor doesn't sign an affidavit. Independent of Sqlite maintainer load.
A known Sqlite contributor who has signed an affidavit, and has a history of good, accepted contributions, may also start spamming trivial contributions that may lead to maintainer overload, and nothing in copyright.html will prevent that.
Youtube launched 1 year and 8 months before being acquired by google.... It's largely semantics to say that what Youtube is today, isn't a direct result of Google's ownership for nearly 20 years now....
From talking to someone that worked at YouTube for 15 years, they still had a lot of core Python code in 2016 that was legacy from the OG company/team and that code needed to be transitioned to follow the Google way of doing things in C++/Go.
I don't think it was distinct enough from the Google culture like Android was at the start of the acquisition but it seems they had leeway to do their own thing.
No concept of language in a user facing way. No filter by language no search by language. On the contrary searches are translated before running and return all languages, videos are dubbed even when you speak the original language, same but with titles being translated etc. Search being shit is kind of on par with being a Google product though. I wonder if they had any language preferences before Google bought them. I don't remember that far back.

Not at all would i ever within the current technology constraints trust a "natural language model" to secure access to my own credentials, i will always keep it as completely isolated from anything at all i would consider 'risky' and pre-define before it begins what it could possibly access through a brand new VM with only the absolute minimal access to any git repo's and completely restrict to the extent that is allowable, it's ability to do anything outside of it's own playground. The playground is disposable, the potential for the LLM to access any of my own accounts and wreak havoc on the trust in my network is unacceptable under any rules....

I'm not sure if it was entirely true, but there are stories that after Microsoft bought Hotmail in the mid-90's, they quickly attempted to move them from FreeBSD (?) to Windows NT. But it failed miserably, and they went back to the original stack for another ~decade.
the FreeBSD migration didn’t take that long - iirc this was the frontend migration to an IIS ISAPI.
the Solaris bits (storage and routing tables) took far longer - and again iirc the frontend had been rewritten in C# before all the Sun hardware had been decommissioned.
