There used to be an "Active" line of Galaxy phones that had built in umpers before they discontinued them.

> umpers

To "b" or not to "b". Apparently the latter.

Probably not anything more complicated than running some kind of signal receiver while clicking each button on the remote and then capturing/replaying it. I highly doubt there's much if any security around the fan remote signals lol.

FYI those Firefox containers have little to nothing to do with organizing tabs spatially, it just lets you have different 'profiles' to open tabs in that can all have separate cookies and so lets you be logged into different accounts on the same website for one example/use case.

I know that. They define an additional dimension to the tabs. Most dimensions aren't spatial.

The license plate itself isn’t the issue. The state want cars to have an easily visible identifier? Sure, whatever makes sense from a perspective of being able to identify a car and its likely driver at the moment when it's actively being used for a crime or for traffic enforcement.

The problem is that this state mandated visible identifier is then used by them to constantly track where you go. So the question is do you have the right to not have the government tracking your movements and keeping logs of everywhere you’ve been for months or years, especially when you’re not currently suspected of any crime?

I think the question may instead be:

> do you have the right to not have [a private company] tracking your movements and keeping logs of everywhere you’ve been for months or years, especially when you’re not currently suspected of any crime?

And

> do you have the right for the government to not purchase that data from [a private company]?

Yes, I think stalking is illegal for individuals, corporations, employees or members of government.

Stalking has a specific definition that I'm not sure would apply here.

Your behavior on the internet is certainly tracked by corporations. Your phone's radio addresses were (are) tracked as you walk by things. None of that rises to the level of "stalking" as we commonly refer to it.

So corporate immunity? I’m not seeing an argument.

Average Handle Time actually

That was his point lol, if someone is saying it'll happen in 5 years, triple that for a real estimate.

It's less the people of the UK have chosen this and more of general apathy towards the state of the world today. The lack of unity and mobilization of the proletariat class to secure our rightful share of the productivity gains of recent decades has left us in a terrible bargaining position, and technology these days is such a huge force multiplier that it feels hopeless to go against governments, and to a lesser extent the huge corporations and elites that influence them (or totally control, according to some). Sometimes I wonder if we've already crossed the point of no return and that they've won and just nobody realizes it yet, and we're doomed to descend into some flavor of corporate dystopian hellhole future.

Fun game, have you considered allowing people to control the sliders with their scroll wheel if they're on a desktop web browser?

Not considered that. Good idea!
