But in terms of performant parallels software, CSP with Channel depth 1 (synchronized) never had a chance.

CSP designed to work with arbitrary queue depth, especially with DAGs, well, that made my career.

The Blue Gene Active Storage project demonstrated compute in highly parallel “storage” where storage was HPC memory. It could work for the relationship between CPU and GPU, FPGA, etc.
