It’s a bunch of tech bros pretending to be counterculture while hanging out with Grover Norquist, Elon Musk, and Eric Schmidt.

If you want to hang out with those people it will be fun for you, but be honest with yourself about what it really is.

Have you been?

How many out of 80k do you think are hanging out with a political operative and two billionaires?

Technically, all of them ;-)

I guess that means by living in Seattle, I also technically hang out with Bill Gates. Neat. ;)

You’ll fit right in on this site then. It’s mostly elderly Americans sundowning and posting about their youth.

"Mostly"? Nah. A HUGE number of contributors are from a myriad of countries.

Using "myriad" loosely. Don't be that "Well acshually" guy.

I'm not american, but ok, why not :)

The people in this thread are sundowning. They’ll upvote absolutely anything that reminds them of their distant youth.

The core demographic here is elderly American racists.

Israel has killed more civilians than Russia and Iran combined.

I don’t think your concern for civilian casualties is genuine.

Hey, you forgot “they hate us for our freedoms” in your propaganda spiel.

Many tens of millions of Americans and Israelis want it.

I was raised a complete pacifist due to religion. However, as an adult I have learned enough in life to understand that those who have no such lofty ideals will be happy to attack those who “don’t believe in violence.” For instance, like the now-dead Supreme Leader did to all the protestors a couple months ago.

Nobody would prefer war to a lasting peace. But I prefer it to letting the likes of the Islamic Republic to just do as much horrible stuff as they want.

The atrocities in Gaza are funded by, and sometimes even committed by, Americans. That’s why a predominantly American forum is interested in it.

If Americans didn't like their system then they would change it. Isn’t that their whole founding mythos?

I don’t think hundreds of millions of Americans are continually being duped. I think they actually like the system they’ve built, and the outcomes that system produces.

So much easier said than done. We have to get our elected representatives to make the change, but it is against their self interest. If this was the only thing people considered when voting _maybe_ it would stand a chance. And honestly, I suspect less than 20% understand how other voting systems could lead to better out comes. Heck, we can’t even use the metric system!

"If the prisoners did not like their prison, they would change it"

I don’t think that the richest and most powerful people on the planet are prisoners. That seems like a ridiculous take.

Americans are bloodthirsty freaks. Killing people is always popular with Americans.
