I've been working on a windows app to pull data in tables from PDF files into Excel http://www.3xfour.com I am a financial analyst in my day job and spend a lot of time pulling data out of annual reports and investor presentations into financial models, so it mainly focused on solving that use case for myself. Previous solutions exist but its a hard problem to get 100% right, I still have a way to go. The more interesting part is to be able to automatically populate missing data in an Excel table that comes from a PDF, e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYzN_elbjWo

I'm working on a windows app to pull tabular data straight from a PDF into excel. http://www.3xfour.com Currently working on adding a web hosted version to pull the data as a csv, but have way to go. Would welcome any feedback Thanks

Amazing. It's definitely one of my dreams as a financial analyst to be able to do that. Would be happy to provide any feedback.

Thanks that would be great, please send any of your thoughts to [email protected]

A mechanical turk vending machine. A walk up terminal that allows the user to complete mechanical turk type tasks to earn a small sum that is paid out in cash immediately.

I like the idea a lot. It's like a digital service version of the reverse vending machines for recycling bottles and cans.

I found some interesting views in this book http://www.amazon.com/Brain-Rules-Baby-Raise-Smart/dp/098326... - there is an associated website which might include some of the content. http://www.brainrules.net/. One interesting point the author makes is the importance of teaching children to identify non-verbal cues and cites studies showing that young children who are taught sign language (and are not hearing impaired) have a higher probability of success in later life. The following pdf could also give you some ideas http://www.dgmt.co.za/files/2013/05/More-than-Counting_web.p... - aimed specifically at math development between 0 and 5 years.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Awesome - have needed this so often.
