power capacity coming from solar means that at peak, no new non-solar power plants are needed. it does not mean that at nadir everything is solar. legacy power plants continue working around the clock, it either goes to waste or it goes to things that run at night.

Don't bother. Half the email replies looked AI generated. He has you solve a problem on a VM, then an LLM evaluates it.
However:
- the LLM gets basic facts wrong about the solution
- the LLM fails you for not solving issues that you weren't supposed to solve (it's a live outage scenario where you're supposed to restore the system ASAP, not go on side quests for bugs that aren't being triggered)
Looks like the guy is too amazed by one-shot evals and believes they should be used for humans too, but then his LLM makes basic mistakes evaluating the results (such as: did you or did you not commit to a git repository).
When emailed about these issues, first he ignored the email, then when emailed about it again he got really combative and started gaslighting about how well his AI driven job interview process works. This shows that he's not a guy who's capable of dealing with the least amount of disagreement. Definitely not someone I'd want deciding about my continued employment.
This is the full email he sent once he finally responded:

I applied in February, included answers to your questions, my email was not generic - it was fully handwritten for your post, it only talked about things relevant to Puma, and included a CV. I received no response either.
Which of these two are not generic? There's dozens you spammed us and other startup founders with. Some are just empty emails with just CV. None were sent in Feb fyi.

Whenever I see people on HN talking about the insane levels of abstraction and indirection the tech industry has built for itself, I remember the crazy things we used to do with little more than bare wires and curiosity.
People on HN complain that they can't get work done because their 48-inch monitor isn't OLED. We would hack mainframes on the other side of the planet with a 40x7 character unlit LCD, and no internet.
Color? Luxury! To experience color, we had to use transparent glass panes painted with stripes of blue, green, and yellow for sky trees and ground respectively! And they didn't make them in the right size for my tv!!
