Hey Anthropic, how about you use AGENTS.md for one thing.

Before this week I was sure Anthropic were actually just as soulless as OpenAi, just because they don't support open standards like AGENTS.md and /.agents/skills. They can so easily win the support of the open source crowd if they just support open standards like these.

The /.agents/skills issue for claude code is here: https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/16345

Their automatic close bot will close it soon as it's been three weeks since the last comment.

Why not just symlink

Why not just use a lightning to usb-c adapter? Because proprietary interfaces are for building monopolies and standards are for breaking them.

Just make a symlink of CLAUDE.md -> AGENTS.md

I have seen quite a few open source projects do this. It works quite well.

Another alternative is to create CLAUDE.md with the exact contents: "@AGENTS.md"

We all know it's easy... so why don't Anthropic do it. Seems rather petty insisting their users put advertising in their repo or someone else's repo.

Big projects should have a lot of nested AGENTS.md files, it's inconvenient and they simply need to add support for the universal standard as everyone else has done rather than being a weird holdout like IE6.

I felt that way too, until I noticed how different their schemes are for discovering these files, e.g. Claude will pick up context files in parent folders, and Codex doesn’t.

Maybe it’s better that they maintain different names to prevent people from assuming that they work the same

+1, https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/6235 is probably the most upvoted github issue that i've seen.

Now that would make it easier for Codex users to switch indeed! This seems like the best timing for it they're ever gonna get, and worth the ultra tiny loss of marketing value their "CLAUDE.md" naming provides.

For the Anthropic employees here reading along, pitch it to whoever has kept blocking this, because you need to get the most out of this opportunity here.

Why would they? They were first with CLAUDE.md. Others could have adopted to that if they wanted. Don’t see a reason for Claude to change their approach.

Being a good citizen of the commons means not hard-coding things specific about your product as a standard. ChatGPT or Gemini using a file called "CLAUDE" doesn't make sense. The first mover doesn't just automatically win.

The benefit is that they aren't phishable.

The tech will catch up in a year or two. Gemini 3.1 pro can now turn a basic raster logo into fairly clean SVG. Six months ago the SOTA models where no where near completing this task.

Not convinced.

>Gemini 3.1 pro can now turn a basic raster logo into fairly clean SVG.

There have been very high quality raster to vector apps for a long time. You have no evidence that Gemini isn't simply hooked up to one of these apps via MCP, so it may not be "Gemini" that is doing the conversion itself.

Yes the tech will catch up but a clean svg and a clean glb are so vastly different from one another that it's hardly worth making the comparison.

Yeah, it will soon generate clean CAD designs, build a PCB and schematics, select the best electronics components and optimize it for you, and even simulate RF and waves propagations.

Don't be evil.

Yeah, in retrospect that was always a little on the nose, wasn't it? A real 'my t-shirt is raising questions that I thought were answered by the shirt' kind of deal.

Maybe it could be what prescribed Methadone is to Heroin addicts.

Watching all these open source, federated versions of social media platforms is like if you found out your favourite drug was actually manufactured by some really bad people and made people around the world suffer. So you make an open source version of the drug. Similar formula, just this time the people can own it.

Sure you cut out the bad people, but is the situation improved now?

There are projects where long term addicts are given pure medical heroin (Diamorphin) in a controlled environment, and they do considerably better than their control group who does not receive their drugs like that.

E.g. https://patrida.de/

Their drug is rage, thirst and cute trap videos generated by AI and selected for maximum engagement.

If it's not harmful it's not the same drug. Unlike diamorphine, a medical grade supply does not reduce harm; it's more like sniffing glue, inhaling poison to escape reality.

The harm from social media is at least in part caused by the feed suggestion algorithm being optimized for screen time (aka addiction). Potentially open social media where the suggestion algorithm is not that could be a big improvement.

That's no way to talk about Open-Cola.

Heroin is illegal, so the first step to make this analogy work is to criminalize TikTok.

Long overdue in fact. But then perhaps heroin wouldn’t be illegal if it was big pharma was producing it in large quantities. It just got barred early enough. Besides why we always forget how addictive and damaging is the well available alcohol?

Alcohol has fucked up more lives than any other drug in my sphere. People who have had their life fucked by drugs has mostly been because of inhumane government intervention.

Yeah the legal thing used by people many magnitudes more than hard illegal drugs had an effect on more people than something used by a relatively small minority will impact more people you know.

How many heroin users do you know who manage to only have 1-2 hits a week socially though and hold down a career.

The most apparent addictions that ruin precious lives everywhere around us, in every country, are freely available because "eyes wide open" and most of the times - intentional misinformation (you can think of it also as tradition).

These are:

Alcohol (+the prescription benzo combo) Gambling Sugar

Add to these tobacco if you want. Nicotine on its won as a standalone agent is perhaps no more damaging than caffeine, but is used in a form-factor that really grills one's lungs.

for example - Russian influenced Balkan areas all take drinking of vodka as something super normal.

Heroin or similar compounds are in fact produced by big Pharma in large quantities.

Heroin was produced in huge quantities and it was a very popular drug for many ailments, including cough, asthma, insomnia and calming down children. It declined only after the 1912 International Opium Convention. In Finland it was a popular cough suppressant until the 1950s. In e.g. UK it's still used for severe pain.

Heroin (diamorphine) as a molecule isn't really substantially more problematic than e.g. oxycodone or fentanyl, which are in widespread medical use. The specific ban of heroin is more a historical contingency.

That was the Purdue Pharma scandal: legal opiates.

That would be great, also I'd like to make advertising in public spaces with LED billboards illegal. But once politicians start using the form of media to get votes it's basically game over.

I don't think that's a good analogy. You can't "hospitalize" someone into Loops for rehabilitation. Don't fight the symptoms, fight the cause.

I've noticed the keyboards on iOS and Android are getting taller and taller with extra buttons for things like password fill with no way to disable these features. I run a word guessing game(Redactle) and there is almost no room left for the actual game which really sucks!

The default Gboard keyboard has settings for always showing the number row, or only showing it when entering a password. There is also a setting for the "suggestion strip" under "corrections & suggestions". You can also drag to resize the keyboard itself in the Gboard menu, to scale the height.

Now, whether your users will do that to play your game is a different story, but the options exist.

Android allows custom keyboards. I like fleksy a lot but it hasn't been updated in ages with bugs creeping in.

iOS kind of does as well. But it's the bar above the keyboard that grinds my gears. Of course it was added in the sloppy liquid 'ass updates. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/256177528?sortBy=rank

Have you tried Futo Keyboard? https://keyboard.futo.org/

Can it do swipe typing in multiple languages without having to manually switch? It's something that Google keyboard does really well, i have it set to 3 languages at the same time. Haven't found any other keyboard that can do that.

It's good but unfortunately doesn't support the same swipe features of fleksy. The swipe left to delete, swipe up or down for change or remember words are extremely useful.

Hope FUTO supports it in the future

No! Trailing it out now...

Check out Klava for iOS – got BlackBerry, Windows Phone-inspired looks and so on https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/klava-keyboard/id6756861211

Plus customisations and BlackBerry 10-like predictive system

If you're using gboard, you can resize the height of the keyboard

O notice the autocephalous is getting worse and worse every days.

Another great benchmark would be to convert a raster image of a logo into SVG. I've yet to find a good tool for this that produces accurate smooth lines.

Please make one on US measurements and metric.

Gas turbines

I am too. But I just loaded up a new youtube page and it's completely white except for a few menu buttons.

It seems to be back, now.
