I agree with you, but given that a lot of car theft is now done by exploiting the keyless entry system, it feels like there'd be easier targets.

They are different opportunities for thieves; airport parking has an advantage that the owners are expected to be away for a while, and, if someone is involved in the parking then they know they may be away for lets say 2 weeks. So then the thief thinks if they can steal the car soon after they arrive no one will notice for ~2 weeks by which time it's in a container on the otherside of the world.
