The price put upon "I don't have to go figure out what a good monitor is and what are good input devices".

For some people is pretty much priceless.

Also there's no cables to connect the monitor and the device making it all one thing you can pickup and move around, which people value as well. Also the difference between (900+$monitor+$mouse+$keyb) and $1700 is really not a lot of money for a lot of people, especially those people considering an Apple devices.

The vibe and name remind me of Jeff! https://jeff.ceo/

Neat! haven't seen this before, thanks for sharing.

Seems like an extremely risky thing to do. Luckily they can keep maintaining it and improving it if their business is truly dependent on it.

Do you honestly think writing code is the purpose of life? Do you think meaningless drudgery is the meaning of life?

Yes. Please enlighten me otherwise.

I agree with Bernard Suits on this one. He asks us to consider a future utopia where technology has solved all of our problems. Whatever is left, whatever we fill our days with at that point, is the meaning of life.

For him, and for me, the obvious answer is games. He defines playing a game as, roughly, “to play a game is to take on unnecessary obstacles voluntarily to make possible the activity of struggling to overcome them”.

no one cares

Any company that is applying or fulfilling a federal government contract does.

They've been on an streak for over 6 years now, check out their wikipedia page.

US keeps arresting and charging people from this group for well over 6 years now, and this happens in 2026. They don't sound very scared.

There are 2 million people in US prisons, and yet this somehow has never stopped new people from committing crimes. It doesn't seem to be working that good as a deterrent.

The group is not afraid, but the individuals who got charged probably stopped all black-hat activity: there was an individual in his early twenties who "was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to return $5 million", which is life-changing to say the least.

Resume like that would set you up right for a cybersecurity career

And yet its had no effect. If anything this group has accelerated their activities, as evinced by this FBI hack.

And the "border" in this case includes a 100 mile circle around any international airport

It does not, this is not in the law. This is a false misunderstanding that somehow keeps getting propagated. A few civil rights people have looked into it and don’t see it as a likely problem, and there haven’t been cases where the government was able to use this argument.

You would be aghast to spend any time in tech these days. I would wager more than 20% of the people in this field right now are wearing devices which record everything they say in every conversation and ship it directly to a transcription LLM and into some other tools. Go to SV and I bet this number jumps to nearer to 30-40%

People do NOT want smaller phones, that should be abundantly obvious.
