I’m pretty sure turning off the bus is something the bus driver can do. It’s not like buses were wildly roaming around before cellular networks were invented…
And marketing folks would be involved in getting the product into directories, search, magazines, etc. What is it that you think marketing people do? They don't write ad copy all day.
This is true unless you look at something like a Seiko Spring Drive, which has a completely smooth second hand sweep, although it’s not entirely mechanical (and maybe only watch nerds care about this)
I wouldn't call it fraud, but it is probably violating the terms of the employment contract. I know it is for my company (I bet people still do it anyway)
What's the recourse for violating your employment contract beyond termination? Ineligibility for unemployment because you were fired "for cause"? Seems like it's worth the risk since you can be fired for no reason at all.
It’s not a staffing thing. They’re fundamentally getting away from storing your location data to avoid having to deal with law enforcement requests and other problematic things.
They are trying to get out of having to fulfill law enforcement requests because they have this data. If it’s only on-device (i.e. no web-based view) then Google can’t give law enforcement data they don’t have.
Eehhhhh. Encryption at rest is technically possible here, no? Though I guess they could still be gagged and coerced by law enforcement to MITM the front end (browser/client). But they could also be coerced to do that in the mobile app too, so nothing seems to have really changed.
