Yes it is.

I mean, there's a law against it. But there is a lot of known warrent-less wire-tapping, both by govt and industry, and everyone shrugs.

And it's not even a de jure vs de facto thing, since by now a lot of the ostensibly illegal stuff has been either defended successfully in courts or buttressed by the govt.

"women-only domestic violence shelters" what exactly do you oppose? That there are no equivalent men's shelters, or that men aren't allowed in?

To this day my wife refuses to tell any man the location of her shelter from when her ex abused her. Might not fit into the modern gender zeitgeist, but I fully support her.

Domestic violence agencies could certainly abuse male victims less. A study of male domestic violence victims who contacted local domestic violence agencies for help found that 40.2% were accused of being the batterer by the person "helping" them:

Unequal availability of assistance/capacity.

OP said: "women-only domestic violence shelters"

Having men-only domestic violence shelter hardly requires removing the gender requirements of our current shelters.

Like making a baby?

Why not?

IIRC, in Canada, its illegal to ask those questions during the application.

Then, when HR is doing their diversity calculations, he boosts their employed woman trans numbers.

Don't see him loosing out much.

The post-doc where I got my PhD was making $5k less than I, or around 17k

His English sucked, his physics PhD in non linear quantum mechanics useless and his resume-writting skills was non existent.

Yet, he's the only person to read my thesis, the cluster worked only thanks to his efforts, and he administered 20~30 workstations while doing his research. I would not have graduated without him and he is more dear to me than anyone I met at school.

I think it's tragic that they low ball international students that way. Many of the ones I have met work exceptionally hard; including doing activities like you mentioned.
