Demoting Orwell's masterpieces (1984 and Animal Farm) to "juvenile science fiction stuff" while holding up Keep the Aspidistra Flying—a mid-tier social realism novel about a middle-class poet struggling with commercialism—is top-tier British condescension (extra points for misspelling Aspidistra while doing so).
How else can you keep ahead of the bots and their em-dashes other than by the use of pointless condescension and subtle misspellings? I mean, you've got to find a niche somehow.
To be fair, while I enjoyed the fun language shenanigans and propaganda and political commentary of 1984, the actual plot was pretty bad imho. Then again one way of reading it is the protagonist is actually paranoid and is exaggerating everything, which isn't entirely a dig against Orwell. He was just aheaf of the curve with self insert fan fiction.
I think my favorite part of the book was when it just turned into reading the political thesis on the essence of oligarichal collectivism or whatever it is. It's a great cynical parody of modern society, but I still think everyone misses the point is that it isn't so much about surveillance as it's about power through language.
You could just as easily have the book set in 1884 without any of the "future tech" and have basically the same plot going around with busybodies and peeping toms filling the rolls of the telescreens.

Often technology is approaching an asymptotic limit that it will not go beyond. Know about a hand waving will change the laws of physics. There's every reason to believe that the speed of light is a maximum that we will never be able to choose because it requires infinite energy. While it is true we don't know everything, and there are certainly parts of it we don't know, the things we do know will have to obey and predict the things that we currently do know to be true. The laws of relativity, although annoying, are very good at describing things. If anything replaces relativity, it's going to replace it while still predicting exactly the same things that relatively does that we have verified. That doesn't leave much room for a theory that might and faster travel.

I like any type of business, like for example “influencers”, where you get your payments in a few big chunks, from many different entities, via wire transfer. Enterprise is like that, brokering €1mm+ deals is like that.

The point is that many tech companies in the Bay Area were not profitable, never going to be profitable, but they treated software developers like kings because of the distorted market supported by low interest rate environment.

happened to me twice to reach €10-30kk MRR and they shut it down. mo human support. I had a 1-4% refund rate. After those bans, I’m not allowed to use Stripe at all seemingly. Because as soon as I use a form of ID with my name (even one not used before on a new laptop and new connection and new SIM), the account is blocked as soon as I submit the ID.
For reference, the businesses were social media and skincare related.
Apparently they only accept like 1% of the micro businesses in the world and you never ever get to talk to a human.
It is pretty much the same with every payment provider unless you have an extremely large volume of sales and your industry is at least kinda ok with them.
How did I fix this? well, I didn’t fix it per se. I stopped creating businesses that would require credit card processing.
I built a business targeted for high net worth individuals. Few, large individual transactions that you can collect with an invoice (payooner/quickbooks) or, better, a wire transfer.
maybe if you are a US company and need CC processing, go for authorize.net+some other company.. idk
