No no it's really important that I have 5-factor authentication on every website and it requires me to go through the whole login process again every time I break eye contact.

And if it ever detects that you briefly used a browser with any kind of privacy-preserving features on any website, you will be logged out from all devices and forced to revalidate your email and gene sequences.

Discord does this with Firefox: It doesn't even tell you that a captcha failed or anything, just poof logged out and you must re reverify the same email you verified 10 minutes ago.

Discord should be illegal and we should use IRC. It did the same thing better without centralized logging.

Downvote me if you want but I am dead serious. Attaching profit motives to basic infrastructure is why the USA is a dystopia today. Protocols really are better than platforms. IRC was a better system than discord.

We have been a petri dish for insane megalomaniacs for too long, and now freedom is coming back to bite us, because it gave freedom to the worst imaginable people to oppress the rest of us.

> Attaching profit motives to basic infrastructure

Water, food, housing, healthcare, telecommunications, computing (including artificial intelligence). I guess it's "socialist" to believe that these baseline needs should be, and can be, free for all of humanity.

One day we'll look back and laugh at the stupidity of our current state of civilization, that we'd need to pay anybody anything to live on this planet that provides all those things and more for free. Pity us, future people, I hope we grow up soon.

Managing resources is a basic function of government. Spooking people out of using their government to manage them is an ancient strategy that broken, wealthy people use to elevate themselves.

This planet does not provide healthcare, telecommunications, or computing for free (unless you consider nature's "the sick get eaten" approach "healthcare"). Housing is only free if you either don't value the labor or you are fine living in caves. Water and food could be free if you're only interested in drinking from rivers and foraging for fruit, otherwise we're back to whether or not you value the labor in farming or building the infrastructure for water collection and transport.

(for the record, I think those things should be all funded by taxes. I just think it is silly to claim the planet provides those things for free. We created those things, through millennia of toil.)

It's not free but that is why it's useful leverage in such a skewed economic environment. Some people are too greedy and a subset of them are too rich. They do not act in the interest of their subordinates or even the country they claim to care about. Sociopaths who would rather build a billion dollar bunker and watch the world burn compared to leading society in any way that matters have taken over.

IRC didn't and hasn't meaningfully evolved the features Discord has, which is why people use Discord.

You're getting downvoted probably because it isn't a serious suggestion. IRC is missing features and you don't have a meaningful reason to make it illegal.

For the record, I use IRC.

Don't pretend the option to click a link or show a gif is hard work. That's just client stuff. Bejeweled profiles are incredibly dumb and easy to reproduce outside the paradigm of "pay to look special" that so many dumb people are falling into.

100000% agree. Discord is one of the most disgusting pieces of software in human history.

and yet somehow an attacker never needs all these auth methods.

my boyfriend didn't have 2fa enabled, but google would still ask him to verify a code on his phone. recently his password leaked, the hackers got into the account and google never bothered them with an extra verification. amazing. the fact that they signed in from a completely different country? who cares!

(yes i enabled 2fa for him now)

Ready to add anal probes?

for what, chess.com?

Yes! I'll be damned if someone improves my elo

Hey! I spat toothpaste all over the floor!

No you can't. It still responds in Chinese after explicitly asking it to "Always reason and respond in English."

I've literally only done this once per computer I use the web interface on, and it's always stuck thereafter. I can't speak to the mobile app

Was already released before your comment: https://huggingface.co/deepseek-ai/DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731

I use DeepSeek V4 Flash (before this update) for most things:

- OpenCode for codebase editing: python scientific computing and LLM projects

- Open Interpreter Classic (python version) for Swiss army knife terminal replacement one-off task type stuff.

DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731 scores higher than Fable 5 on Terminal-Bench, and Fable 5 is Mythos, correct?

Yes, they trained on my open source code and Wikipedia edits and Stack Overflow answers that I shared freely, so it's only fair that they release their models as open source and share back to the community that created them. I only allow my training data go to open source models.

Yeah, at least when I share my training data with labs releasing their models openly (Chinese or American or otherwise) it's nominally so an even better open model will land in my hands in the future.

Yeah the reasoning is formatted differently and the replies are often in Chinese.

Sometimes it's faster than swyping on a phone, but mostly I use it to learn about stuff and hash out ideas while driving.

The US government is vastly more likely to break down my door and arrest me for my speech than the Chinese government is. (Because I live in the US.)

Qwen3.5-plus is quite good, Qwen3.6-plus is not.
