They don’t own the contest, an Israeli company sponsors Eurovision.

I suspect the song on Israeli participation is not over yet, but that’s a side tangent.

A sponsored business is effectively owned by its sponsors

> A sponsored business is effectively owned by its sponsors

This is nonsese. The business is owned by its owners. Sponsors are the customers. For multinational staples like Eurovision, sponsors get limited say.

Many countries effectively have a live registry of where people live, updated to within a few weeks. A door to door census isn’t needed because they can do something like:

SELECT a.province, COUNT(DISTINCT b.id_num) FROM registry a INNER JOIN national_id b ON a.nat_id_num = b.id_num WHERE timeframe = 2026-01-01 GROUP BY 1

The pure audacity to get caught and chewed out by a judge and then continue not reviewing briefings for hallucinated cases.

Opposing counsel is also being called out by the judiciary for not recognizing that multiple citations counsel has put forth are not only not real, but actually counter to existing law.

It is way harder to review that sort of stuff then create it correctly by yourself.

If their they expect tp speed up and rely on reviewing, it is pretty much guaranteed some lies will end up in documents.

Is it really though? Now admittedly I’ve never worked with LexisNexis or Westlaw, but would it really be that difficult to have a tool just check if the citations actually exist?

You also have to read them and check whether they claim what the document claims. Just checking whether it goes somewhere is not enough.

This whole thing is requiring people to do exactly the thing they are bad at - controling output of something else while being passive and not loosing attention.

Westlaw is very expensive

Which is clearly illegal.

Congress would need to declare any official language(s). Moreover, by treaty and law (NALA of 1990) obligations to Native American tribes there must be more languages than merely English.

This one actually certainly is, it just hasn't shown up in court because no one's dumb enough to enforce it.

The Constitutional Convention discussed a national language at length in 1789, and adamantly didn't include a language requirement on purpose.

Unlike North Korea, Israel is highly globally economically integrated. I’ve only ever seen anti-Zionists propose defeating the state the same way the last apartheid state (and Israel’s nuclear weapon development partner) was: a mix of extreme economic and diplomatic pressure.

> a mix of extreme economic and diplomatic pressure.

None of which matters if the demand that you are making on them would amount to (in their opinion, not yours) their own destruction. There is no threats that you can enact on them that would ever cause them to voluntarily do what they believe would destroy their own country and the people/military living their would rather go out fighting. Of which they are capable of doing so, with that modern military and 200+ nuclear weapons.

Thats the thing about those strategies. If the other party just refuses to budge, it doesn't really matter how much diplomatic or economic pressure that you put on the nuclear armed power. They can just refuse the demands and you are out of luck.

I believe it’s in reference to the humor TV show Letterkenny which has a beer brand called Puppers. Characters on the show often ask for another fucking puppers.

Because it would be really nice to know if some of the currents collapse when it happens rather than months later.

Even beyond that immediate need, the oceans are incredibly poorly studied and are of massive economic and military value to the United States. Baseline statistics on currents could be very useful for all kinds of as yet unknown science and applications. Countries that run a big navy do ocean science. It’s a form of dual purpose funding that benefits both civilian and military ships.

If you are worth $52 Billion how petty do you have to be to go after your ex girlfriend for cash for any reason?

Also the arbiters write up is incredibly biased and not at all what I would expect a neutral party to write. “One can also conclude that Ritter engaged in self-centered efforts to obtain revenge against Schmidt in a way that was more damaging than helpful to her cause.”

This is about a man who went after a girl less than half his age and then decided the power imbalance wasn’t severe enough so went into business with her as well. Are we really supposed to believe sexual assault is outside the realm of possibility in those circumstances?

"If you are worth $52 Billion how petty do you have to be to go after your ex girlfriend for cash for any reason?" How is this petty? If a party was being legally liabile, this is 100% a reasonable vector for enforcement.

"Also the arbiters write up is incredibly biased and not at all what I would expect a neutral party to write. “One can also conclude that Ritter engaged in self-centered efforts to obtain revenge against Schmidt in a way that was more damaging than helpful to her cause.”"

That just means the evidence is exhausting, this is not a criminal court, there is no innocent until proven guilty - the level is much, much less to prove and there was a coordinated effort which means if a neutral arbirter can write the above, thats probably most likely what happened.

"This is about a man who went after a girl less than half his age and then decided the power imbalance wasn’t severe enough so went into business with her as well. Are we really supposed to believe sexual assault is outside the realm of possibility in those circumstances?"

That's biased itself, you write about bias but write it more so. If there was sexual assault it would be a criminal case - easily.

So, why are you defending someone that openly accused someone of a sexual crime which did not happen?

And I did not want to be writing to defend a google ceo, but here we are - why do you believe someone can accuse someone of a serious crime and not suffer reprecusions for it?

Many people are accused falsely and have their repution ruined by it. There is no shortage of stories about it from all genders.

Excuse me, this was a false tape accusation, not an accidentally crashed supercar.

I'd absolutely do the same, including forcing her to publish apology on all her SM accounts and in the press.

A rich guy is always a target for certain women that are motivated by money. He has every reason to protect his reputation and money by proactively settling the matter officially. Sexual assault is a serious allegation

I mean just Look who you are talking about.

This man took a major role in logging and selling every single thing about every single person without them noticing. He is sick in the head and a piece of shit human being for violating all of humanity’s privacy.

The EU also lacks incentivizes to not harm SpaceX. The US government as a whole, and DoD in particular wants SpaceX around to deliver cheap mass to orbit.

Europe on the other hand would love any judgements which give their rockets a chance to catchup. So they won’t temper an investigation or fines accordingly.

Tbf UBI-lite during COVID was paired with 2 things:

1) massive handouts to business owners through forgiven “loans.” Predictably this had massive fraud, some of which was prosecuted but not much.

2) massively constrained supply chains which caused higher prices.

I suspect 2 at least would have caused inflation regardless of the stimulus checks.

It’s unclear to what extent UBI causes persistent inflation. Proponents claim the backdrop of a minimal income will enable more risky innovative projects which could increase GDP growth enough to counteract some level of increased inflation.

That's fair, but I would expect the bullwhip that followed the supply chain issues would have reversed a lot of the price increases, but inflation continued well into 2023 and even today is elevated above pre-COVID.
