My Dad and I built a kart to spec but didn't race it, only drove for fun and skill. Luckily I had no idea there were so many levels of expertise as you speak of. Helluva way to learn to drive though! By the time I got full control of an automobile all my wild urges had been satisfied.
If I'd met someone like you describe I'd have challenged him to a race: what else is there but to learn!
And so much of life is necessarily chance - so go for it!
Can I get a model that doesn't have all the horseshit in it that a full foundation model does? That is, is there anyway to choose what goes into my LLM's corpus?
An extreme example: Jacques Derrida. I lived most of a life w/o hearing of Jacques Derrida. And that was fine. I wish I had it back.
What do you think Richard Feynman thought of Jacques Derrida? I asked an LLM:
"Richard Feynman was famously dismissive of philosophy of science and postmodern critiques, calling such movements "baloney," while Jacques Derrida's deconstruction focused on language and meaning rather than scientific inquiry."
If we wish to recreate useful genius (super AI) it will be genius akin to human genius and it will be scientific genius and not baloney.
Nobody has ever read all the crap the AI world models have read, yet we have plenty of smart people and geniuses. Gimme a simpler less well-informed LLM that doesn't know about Derrida and other baloney. Get the crap out!
Are you referring to the thing that literally says, in very large font, “This is not a paywall”? The one with a large, easily clickable X in the upper-right corner that dismisses it with no payment required?
No. There is a "large, easily clickable X in the upper-right corner" that dismisses it by asking me to pay and/or subscribe. The Guardian always puts up a paywall or asks for my e-mail address so they can spam the hell out of me but that's largely OK since the Guardian is mostly horseshit anyway.
European wine merchants periodically produce gluts of wine. Supposedly it was so bad wine batches were thrown away or poured into drains (doubtless a wondrous occurrence for the drunks passed-out there!)
