PEP 704 is a recent proposal to require a virtual environment by default for any package installer - https://peps.python.org/pep-0704/. Again, you can opt-out if you want.

Or that it even redirects to 4xx or 5xx. I had considered this, but decided to draw the line here.

My guess would be that URLs for the categories eliminated after that period (eg. Books and Podcasts) are more likely to remain stable and available, even if the product was a flop.

So you don't have to do anything yourself? I personally don't want to set up a https certificate every time I want to take a payment.

How many years are you willing to pay a revolving monthly fee to avoid spending an hour on an ssl cert once? Just asking for market research purposes.

If you set up your domain on Cloudflare and use their SSL, you literally do not need to worry about SSL certs.
