Australian company so: lol. Snowden triggered a few narrow real wins but the broader surveillance apparatus adapted, survived, and in some ways grew. Things were just legalised.
I love heat pumps, but they are well out of reach for most people at 25-30k for a full system with insulation and radiator change.
5C is indeed a cold night, for Spain, in an uninsulated house which most are, and 13C/55F daily high, it's teeth-chatteringly cold without heating, yet most Spanish just brace it, for similar reasons they don't have AC in Germany: "it's survivable, and it only lasts around 3 months". This is why I refer to this as "energy poverty".
absolutely nobody used those outside of a language demo. We also got --erasableSyntaxOnly last year to remove them from the language. The TS team considers them “mistakes“ for a really long time now
Thanks for the correction! It was a long time ago that I used TypeScript, and making things worse (for my memory) it was an Angular project.
So today, most people and teams avoid the parts of TS that require compilation into different JS, and --erasableSyntaxOnly lets you enforce this, right?
I think what grandparent is very very fucking poorly trying to say is, Germany/EU could've accepted the "annexation" of Ukraine like it did Crimea in 2014. "Bad Putin! But what can we do."
Germany is in no position to go against the USA's geopolitical interests. Sure, they do trade shenanigans sometimes, like with Russian gas, but the relationship with Russia was pretty good before Putin decided to hold power endlessly - he even gave a speech (in German) in the parliament. But in the end of the day, those times are over; only extremist parties are pro-Russian, and Germany still has the 2nd largest US Army presence, including 15-20 US nuclear bombs parked here. It's unthinkable that any government here would go against "Western" interests and support Russia.
But which USA are you talking about? Currently it is ruled by such an extremist party where some members declared love for Putin (and others are cowardly just "following orders" because they like their power and paycheck).
The former Warsaw Pact countries are aware capitulating to Putin would mean they're next, so they're vocal against EU surrender. Further, if East Europe gets threatened, West Europe knows it'll have a mother of a refugee crisis - even if Ukraine falls they'll have one.
Anyway, that's all to say currently USA's geopolitical interest seems to be "Trump Tower Moscow", and Germany is not going to go along with that.
I had keyboards upwards of $200 with a very nice design but they have their Bluetooth switch underneath the keycaps ... and usually don't ship ISO versions. What keychron is delivering for the price is just amazing.
This is a minor point. It gives the government broad power to reject any request, associations and media outlets are excluded, it costs more and the mandatory REDACTION OF NAMES is undercutting accountability completely.
Yea, I don't give a shit wether only citizen should be able to request data.
Let's just remember that spd unironically thought the CumEx expert Scholz should be given the highest position in the government.
After that debacle I honestly cannot understand how anyone with even an iota of integrity can vote for them again and think any of them would ever act in the interests of their people
The slogan "Wer hat uns verraten? – Sozialdemokraten!" has a rather long history. Coined by communist during the 1918 November Revolution, it referenced the social democrats at least tentative support of the suppression of the communist revolution and the murder of Karl Liebknecht und Rosa Luxemburg.
During Weimar times it was popular with both right-wing and left-wing forces. The Nazis - who sent social democrats to the concentration camps - also used it in their propaganda.
As much as I disagree with many of the things today's social democrats say and do, it's worth remembering that this slogan was popularized and predominantly used by anti-democratic forces. It's not a particularly fair thing to throw around carelessly.
I used to be a hardcore Cursor user until I spent more time with the alternatives and cursor has gotten rough on my machine lately: spins up the MBP fans in minutes and drains the battery in an hour or two on the go. The harness is great, but eventually someone will build something equally good that is not vibe coded to death.
I just set up a monthly donation and had one thought: the way to donate monthly feels a bit too hidden right now (did a ctrl+f search to find the footer link).
