In India we have company that enable gig workers - maids, drivers, beauticians, fixing aircons etc. Company charges so much that people try to cut way from the aggregator. Instead a fixed number and vision to reduce that further would these companies much bigger.
Our demand for perfectionism prevent any progress. I would consider shortening patent length that can help everyone. With all the improvements in the world we could afford shorter window.

So having good social security helps everyone. Unfortunately my country ( IN) does not prioritise that part.
Sounds like a generic form of single table inheritance. I don't honestly see any other way to do it (punting to a JSON field is effectively the same thing) when you have potentially thousands of parts all with their own super specific relevant attributes.
I've worked on multiple products that have had a concept of "custom fields" who did it this way too.
