Artificial intelligence is a total misnomer. The current machine learning techniques that are becoming successful are better described as pattern recognition. A network that is designed to recognize kittens (or other stuff) is neither intelligent nor dangerous.
I don't think you can count that in the "many things he says" category, with how consistent and insistent he is with those statements over quite some time now.
That being said, I'm personally not sure if one should put too much weight on his opinions regarding that matter.
Thanks. Publishers have accounts through www.isocket.com where they slice and dice their ad packages. It's totally up to them, they configure it their way with their pricing. So for example, Cheezburger chose to sell a $6 CPM medium rectangle.
isocket is used by the web's premiere publishers like TechCrunch, Cheezburger Network, Lookbook.nu, GameZebo, Vator.tv, etc etc.
@Dawson - OIO is free, but it puts a lot of the support on your shoulders. So you've got a mix of options - SaaS software like isocket that includes support for you and your advertisers, brokerage services like BSA that include support and commissions, or total 'on your own' stuff OIO.
You mentioned already selling some ads on your own / having interested from advertisers. Congrats!
John, Founder/CEO of isocket here - thanks for the mention Bobby!
@bjonathan - confused... why would you want the DFP limit to change if the limit is already above what you'd need each month (thus being free to you)? Or do you mean you're hoping your traffic grows to the point you pay ;)
Sorry guys, but you'll have to blame the strange ads on Google =)
Publishers on isocket can put another ad network's code in as a default setting - so that when their ad space isn't sold directly, it will default to AdSense / whatever.
We do not arbitrage or sell your unused inventory for our benefit.
In terms of our business model - yes, we're actually commission-free. It's a flat monthly fee. Sorry to do this to ya, but we haven't publicly announced what the pricing is yet.
Part of the "open" approach we're taking is not forcing publishers to use our ad server if they don't want to. We have one, but some publishers (like TechCrunch) use our plugins with other ad servers like GAM.
So you won't see our tags on TechCrunch's page, but many of those ads were purchased through our system.
