Im the only one no longer uses terminals apps, not even IDE's, now not even terminals.

Claude/Codex app all the way baby. What a crazy world.

The first think I did when I saw the number is to google how much trees finland has.

Estimated 33 trillion trees. I think they will do fine with 250k less trees.

> Estimated 33 trillion trees

Where did you get this number? According to Yle[0], you're off by more than three orders of magnitude: "Earth is home to [over 3 trillion] trees", and "the number of trees in Finland at around 22 billion."

That decision is not on arrogant foreign corporation. Finland has own process which can end up in "yes" or "no".

It is ok for Finland to say yes, it is not OK for Google to say it on their behalf.

No. They broke the law. Thats the point. Go into a walmart, lift a chewing gum and make the point Walmart has a few billion more.

We don't know if they broke the law or not yet.

Yle (national news) reports in https://yle.fi/a/74-20251890, choice sentences paraphrased to English:

> Considerable land and forest construction work continued illegally at Muhos and Kajaani data center sites for months before LVV (permit and supervision agency) intervened.

> Work has been against YVA (environmental protection) laws.

(I did not see a link to English version, so feel free to use your favourite translation tool if you don't speak Finnish and don't trust my translation.)

The illegality here seems to be determined by LVV, whose mission is primarily to guide in following environmental protection laws. They also have the power to stop the works when they are illegal or suspected to be so, as they did on Oct 6 in Muhos.

Both LVV and the police are investigating the case and we don't have their resolution yet, but we already do know that some laws have been broken.

> After the construction work was stopped, country manager of Google Finland, Antti Järvinen offered an apology for their actions.

Of course it is possible that the end result of the environmental protection process is that the actual construction work is permitted and can continue. In that case, the only law that was broken would be following the proper process. But it is also possible that the work is not, indeed, permitted, and the fines and other legal consequences are then presumably harsher.

Just wow. If we treat all natural resources like this then we deserve to struggle and die as a species.

So we never build anything less it hurt a tree?

Mature trees should definitely take precedence over new building. Ther is plenty of land in this world without trees, why choose to build in the middle of a forest?

As an european, just woke up to this, wow crazy.

All my apps are on Railway, deployments has been down since yesterday morning (24 hours), feels nuts that they have waited until 2AM to say this.

Go get it man, they are the best.

This is my pack: https://i.imgur.com/hnoioNy.jpeg

Keep going man, switch countries, never call it done.

You never know what awaits behind the corner.

I have completely stopped using Jetbrains products since 6 months ago. Like all, not gonna even renew my subscription.

Heavy user of WebStorm and Datagrip since at least 2019.

How is an LLM replacing Datagrip?

Small forums is the answer. In spain they are still popular and after some time it feels like an small town in the good sense, you know everyone and everyone knows you. Of course small forums will not IPO

Tildes is nice, Hubski's a nice slow and thoughtful

I'm very interested in these small-ish forum communities. They're always invite only, however. I guess that's what must be done to keep it sane.

Thanks for the rec, I hadn't heard of it but Tildes looks very pleasant.

It really is

I “agree” with your “sentiment”.

But I can’t shake the feeling that discussing this stuff is indeed void on the AI era. I considered my self a JS/TS/React expert dev, derivate, state duplication, url as a source of truth…

All of these points feel void now, I have not checked/cared how my React code looks like in months now. I only care about more high level stuff like schema definition and overall wiring.

Also interested.

Are you serious? Before LLM’s you needed serious skills and experience to pull this off.

Now it’s a prompt away on some terminal done by any random dud.

And I dont mention the velocity of iteration or that they will be even better in 1 year.

Its like you don't even read the post or the content.

Hint: agentic loops.

No its not a prompt away.

Also the harness, there have been several HN submissions showing that older/smaller models can find a subset of the exploits given a good env
