I highly recommend a visit. It’s only a beautiful ferry ride and nice walk along the waterfront away from San Francisco. A refreshingly retro and analog experience.
Thank you! We generally try to stay in line with the supported versions of the technologies we use: Postgres, NodeJS, Redis, etc.
For Postgres in particular, part of the motivation for doing this upgrade when we did was (besides the very meaningful performance improvements) is that Postgres 12 will no longer be supported by Aurora after February 25, 2025.[0]
Officially, Medplum v3 (our current newest version) requires Postgres 12+. We're just about to release v4 which will support 13-17 based on the support dates published by Postgres[1]. We're still finalizing more formal documentation on our versioning strategy going forward.
Agreed. I frequently go running by (all?) the filming locations they used. With the exception of the Hippie Hill location in GGP, I rarely, if ever, see homeless at any of the others.
As an aside, a few weeks ago I ran by a film crew with a lot of privacy fences set up at the location by the Warming Hut with bay and GGB in the background. Now I know what they were filming!
Congrats, Frigade! I'm on the team at Vanta that is revamping our user onboarding flows and really wish y'all had launched a couple months ago! Building out the platform to support these experiences internally is no small feat and can blow up in scope quickly. Kudos!
Eric was kind enough to take the time to send us candid and actionable feedback as he went through Vanta's onboarding which definitely helped us smooth out a couple wrinkles. Thanks so much for that.
Recent father of twins here. To reiterate points 3-5: if it is within your means, I cannot highly recommend a night doula/nanny enough. We have a night doula who comes five nights a week (work nights, Sunday - Thursday) for the first three months (currently in week 7). After fending for ourselves every Friday and Saturday, I can't imagine how drained I would constantly be without one.
I love pairing bitters with my sodastream! A few of my favorite recipes are: 1) Grapefruit & Cherry, 2) Cardamom, and 3) Orange & Cranberry. Clearly it's all to taste, but a 3-4 dashes of each bitter is a good starting point for a ~16oz glass of seltzer.
Fee Brothers sells a 12 piece variety pack which is a great way to experiment. After that you have quite a rabbit hole of bitters brands and flavors to explore!
For what it's worth, the second paragraph (about refusing to tip for jobs they are capable of performing) in the comment you replied to is a direct quote of Dwight Schrute's character from the US version of the the TV show The Office.
I was also very surprised by this. I'm having a hard time accepting that I'd have to manually concat my columns to create sort keys and keep track of the corresponding queries for them, e.g. "BEGINS WITH..."? Granted, I only watched the video so maybe I'm missing something and that was just to simplify the presentation.
Yeah I'm with you, I've been reading up today about the GSIs in Dynamo but they really seem like a hack to get you a usable database, I need to come up with a good reason to use it at work, probably migrate some older databases so that we can multi-DC them.
