I wish this advice was more commonly heeded. Overselling and under delivering just builds negative sentiment.

It wasn’t obvious to me what problem this solves, might just be I’m not the target audience.

Anyone feel they could explain?

> We’re rewriting Nix in Rust

I almost stopped reading here. I'm not a Nix user at all, so I don't know if it's needed in the first place.

With all due respect for the work done here, to me, it just feels like another "let's rewrite it in rust" project.

If they don’t agree with the tenants of it, seems like association or “being nice” to those friends is off the table.

At least, that’s what seems to me to be the logical conclusion of what the article espouses.

I’d guess that there are instances where the author would and would not agree the line is, but I also think that the subjectives of that line is where people might take issue with this article.

That doesn't make any sense.

First, Islam is as diverse as any global religion. Some branches of it are far more liberal than others. There is no central authority.

Second, even if someone is a member of a conservative religion, it's not necessarily the case that they're an asshole or a bigot. Most people just want to live quietly in peace. Catholicism is another socially conservative religion, but most Catholics are pretty chill and normal. It's not particularly weird for a liberal to be friends with a Catholic.

If they're running around with a megaphone extolling the virtues of white supremacy and ethnic cleansing, that's a different matter entirely.

If you aren't friends with anyone you have a disagreement with, you are friends with no one.

Yeah, and I think Overstreet might be going hard on AI, so not sure how that might effect the project

If you have "refine until it's perfect and don't screw with things you don't understand" thoroughly ingrained, along with the dangers of overconfidence, you'll do fine with AI.

Not everyone gets it though, that's for sure.

And, if you want to know if it's mature, I'd trust the user reports over the one liners :)

This is the best point I’ve heard for this perspective.

I guess I just never cared to actually LEGO much with Linux.

This actually looks a lot like something I was looking for. Sadly, it’s from one of the last companies I’d be willing to allow access to more of my data.

I think archive.is choosing to use something means they’re nearly as culpable.

That's theoretically arguable. Still, for the many reCaptcha users in the world, Google dropped it on them and they are at least temporarily stuck with it. Not everyone has the time or energy to implement another solution, and what solution is better? Cloudflare's infinite turnstile?

Wow this led me on an interesting rabbit hole about what odoh is.

Very interesting!

Depending on the model, I’m guessing it’s dwarfed by just about any electron app

I’m a customer. Their openness is why I pay them instead of a Google or Apple.

Usually I’d just self host but it’s nice having them as a hassle free option.

They seem like a really good company. I love the branding, I love how they keep their servers open while most like Proton only open their clients.
