Benefit of the doubt: how do you consider that racist? The way I read it:
Trump's policies target non-white, non-European heritage people. These names heavily insinuate that all authors fit that demographic.
They're not insulting the demographics or saying races are different, they're pointing out that having access to some of the world's smartest minds as immigrants is a great boon for this country and that we rely on them heavily for our own success.
They aren't saying they aren't Americans, either. But the chilling effect has consequences over time. Anyway, Trump is attempting to deport US citizens today. One of which is a sitting US politician. So is that nuanced downstream effect even needed to worry for these folk and our future?
I did find it funny recently when Huawei when talking about its folded logic say the Vertical Bonding Pitch's are every 15,000 angstroms. It is a very fancy way of saying an interconnect every 1.5 microns.
What's wild is that the mirrors used in the EUV machines are smooth to a level of deviation even smaller that the feature size of the gates being etched.
These mirrors are up to a couple of feet in diameter, with an average smoothness deviation of less than the width of an atom, maximum bump size of 1nm or less. They like to point out that if scaled up to the size of Germany (Zeiss makes them), the biggest surface defect would still only be 0.1mm!
To "join" the EEA both sides/parties of it has to agree, so yes, members do have a say, it's beneficial (and should be) to both parties of the agreements.
PMAX is particularly awful because it incentivizes the scammers to actually book meetings with our Sales team, and waste their time with a no-show.
(For anyone unfamiliar with how the PMAX scam works: PMAX will send more ad traffic to sites that perform well for an advertiser. So scammers who own a network of fraudulent sites will fill out that advertisers' forms, register a great conversion rate, and get a lot of ad traffic directed to their network of bot sites. When you spot the fraud, Google will say: "um, maybe put their IPs on the ad blocklist?" like its 1998 and the most sophisticated click fraudsters are the ones who can click their mouse the fastest. Enshittification Endgame.)
If you take a closer look at OpenRouter, it is a Cloudflare + Stripe wrapper.
Payments are core to their business. They only charge 5%, of which probably 3-3.5% goes directly to stripe. So they are making maybe 1%. If they have any payments fraud it takes a crazy amount of volume to make up for it.
So, the openrouter aquisition makes a lot of sense to me. I suspect almost all of openrouter growing pains are payments related.
Having a hard time seeing how the US is going to "win SI" while also making it nearly impossible immigrate.
