There are time limits in Brazil. Lula was reelect once, spent 12 years out of office, and came back. Twice.

Don't spread lies.

Hacked messages uncovered procedural fraud in Lula’s trial, leading to the annulment of his convictions.

What?

Even if the trial was annulled due to procedural fraud (which it wasn’t), it doesn’t take away his corruption and what his group did to the country.

One can argue that there have been numerous procedural frauds in Bolsonaro's trial - but of course if it’s the other side you don’t care ;)

I'm not talking about Bolsonaro crimes.

The fact is that Lula was not convicted.

All the evidence against him, all the people who ratted him out... You're just going to ignore all of it because of some bullshit technicality saying the trial took place in the wrong court or something?

And he was convicted. By several judges. It was the supreme court that voided Lava Jato. Essentially, they him in the presidential race specifically to take out Bolsonaro.

Hopefully tomorrow he will prove useless at even that, and his party will be buried for good.

There's probably some Meta employees reading this. You probably are decent people, with a nice family, good to your friends, ethical citizens and aren't directly involved in this psyops conspiracy. But you will be responsible for a lot of suffering. The Amazon will be devastated. A lot of people will get poorer. Violence will spread. Autocracy will win. Few people will get richer.

I don't know how you can sleep at night.

Nah. Lula had nearly 20 years to revert the neoliberal policies of FHC, reindustrialize and finally turn this country around just like China. He chose to sedate the population with handouts, line his pockets and set up a Venezuela-tier juristocracy via the supreme court to maintain his own power.

It's over, and it's high time for him to get the hell out. If we're going to be a neoliberal shithole, then I sure as hell don't want him in charge of it.

And China didn't need to bomb any country to sell solar for us.

Economic coercion and dumping is well known.

Meta is meddling with Brazilian elections

Have you seen this one? It seems Patriot Act scandal level if it is true, honestly probably an order of magnitude worse

"Meddling" is too strong a word. This is essentially a routine judgement, a rather minor issue when you consider all the other stuff that's going on in this election. Lula is literally pulling out all the stops.

Ut is worse than this. Technical glitches just for one sid3

I'm not saying it's not happening. I'm saying it's a minor problem compared to everything the actual Brazilian institutions are doing.

American control social networks and is hacking democracies around the world: https://paydayreport.com/meta-censors-over-1-080-pro-lula-ac...

In this exact moment, USA is hacking Brazillian elections. Meta is shadowbanning one of the candidates. People don't know what is happening. A small filter in Meta AI blocking image generation for one of the candidates is now generating an uproar.

American Big Tech is a menace for all democracies around the world.

People warned about this 20 years ago when Facebook had started to gain world wide popularity. The basis for the claim that privacy is required for democracy is grounded on the idea that giving up the control of information to a selected few are incompatible with freedom of thought, freedom of assembly, and freedom of expression, and all of it is required for the basic functions of a democracy. A fair election, a fair legal system, and a fair press, all of it require that people have some direct control over their own information flows.

"Beware of he who would deny you access to information, for in his heart he dreams himself your master". In the first decade of the 20th century we kind of know it was true but didn't really act on it. During the second decade, popularity of fake news drove some to reject the idea, arguing that some masters are actually a good thing since that prevent the masses to get the wrong information, believing that platforms should act as the police to prevent people with megaphones. Now during the third decade we are starting to see what happen when such masters are giving free range to use their power, including working with or against governments depending on their own interests and with zero regards for society.

> American Big Tech is a menace for all democracies around the world.

Wait, aren't that is exactly the definition of the democracy? When the people use all information there is (even if American Big Tech, or China, or Russia, or Soros, or world‑controlling pedo cabal have not very uniformly media coverage of the election process) to make their own decision?

Tell ir tô the American gov that censured TikTok

The US is meddling in European elections as well, supporting extreme "right wing" parties across the continent. Entirely ignoring democracy issues.

Inside the US, you have a remarkable lack of serious reporting and common-meaning-generating discussion. Filter bubble echo-chambers are extreme to the point of constituting entirely incompatible realities.

Those distortions aren't random either, they clearly serve a specific goal. Having people scoff at "conspiracies" even when they're facing them dead-on is a surprisingly effective trick.

"common-meaning-generating" - this! thank you
