Have they killed 6 million plus 1? How are they possibly worse.

They have an explicit goal to end Israel. Every dead Hamas member makes the world a better place. Fortunately, Israel is helping make that happen.

They targeted civilians with no other aim than to target civilians.

They got elected and like the Nazis stopped any more elections.

They violently killed their opposition after their election victory.

They’ve severely curtailed the freedoms of the people they’ve ruled in Gaza, famously, for example, executing their own commander because he may have been gay.

They’ve misappropriated billions in aid to build tunnels and construct weaponry.

Theyve started a war against a much more powerful enemy that they have no hope of winning.

In this war they consistently use their civilian population as human shields.

In this war they consistently refuse to allow the civilian population to seek shelter in the tunnels they spent billions in aid building.

In this war, that they are losing, they’ve consistently rejected multiple offers for a ceasefire.

All of this while much of their leadership actually resides in Qatar.

Humanity sympathizers. Most people recoil at seeing 10s of thousands of children killed.

So the bombing of Germany in WW2 was bad? It was done for the humanity. Many died, but the world became a better place (without Nazis) in result.

Same thing happens here. Hamas needs to be defeated, and this is the grim price for that. And its fully their fault and their responsibility for the death of many people — as they're the aggressor. Israel is not to blame here.

You can be against the actions of the current Israeli government while also being against Hamas.

Are we pretending this conflict started on October 7th or should we go back to the Palestinian Mandate and the 1948 war crimes?

If Western nations are to be sorrowful for Nazi crimes in the 1940a surely the ethnic cleansing of the Arabs is on the table for discussion here…

It started even earlier. I lived in Tel Aviv and witnessed indiscriminate shelling of Israeli cities by Hamas many times, for many years. They specifically target civilians. It's barbaric.

And it's not just Hamas, it's general hatred against Jews which is nurtured in Palestinian people. In their schools, in their books, they teach their children to hate Jews, to kill them. There just isn't anything like that in Israel — Israelis don't want to kill Palestinians, they'd like to peacefully coexist with them, but again and again they are left with no choice.

Israel left Gaza once, by the way, but that only made Hamas stronger. Appeasement doesn't work seemingly with those who don't truly want peace.

I’m not OP and I ask myself that question daily?

I have a job that is financially viable at a small, good, profitable firm… that has less stellar engineering management (not bad people wise)… and I care deeply about my craft. I’m a child hood coder with also a deep “Protestant Work Ethic.”

I have semi-checked out at work, it’s mentally taxing to know the systems could be better. I also know after 5 years my hard work and going the extra mile” will not be rewarded so I coast with my above-average reviews… but I feel guilt and mental anguish and stress and worry I’ll be found for a fraud (not imposter syndrome way, in a “I could do better and will be punished for not” way)

For some of us it’s a passion not a paycheck. Although the pay is nice.

I used to mentor for a south-eastern group, Iron Yard.

All the good candidates had proven themselves in other disciplines. Our top candidates my first year mentoring were a master carpenter and a PhD in Jazz.

The typical Bachelor’s in Communications-to-Coder just never panned out at a real-world level.

If you don’t collect statistics, or provide bad service so people don’t bother calling even if you do collect statistics you’ll juice the numbers quite favorably.

For what it’s worth in my area “crime is down,” petty crimes like shoplifting and theft - but violent crimes involving guns are up (brandishing, shootings), but then murder itself is down.

So of course the headline is “crime is down” and when you bring up all the random idiots brandishing weapons in traffic or heroin addicts nodding off by the Starbucks you’re now magically a right wing idiot because of petty word games.

For what it’s worth it doesn’t matter if the metropolitan as a whole is statistically “good,” if my narrow slice is poorly managed it’s poorly managed and no overly broad statistical group changes on the ground lived reality.

My employer’s algorithm for 2020-2024 was, I kid you not, “published rate - 2%” for our cost of living raises. I’m willing to gamble they will not lower my wage during a recession, and we’re a small, profitable, fiscally conservative firm.

Why not roll the die?
