on chrome based browsers with Linux I have to disable 'use graphic acceleration when available' in the browser settings or the browser with freeze intermittently. This has been a consistent issue across distros for years. Not sure if it also affects firefox.

Disabling this feature mostly works, but results in poor performance for some graphics heavy websites.

I also had a lot of issues with my AMD framework laptop and ended up reverting back to a older Intel Framework laptop. Top issues with the AMD laptop were the realtek wireless, and random AMD (integrated) GPU glitches. Intel hardware continues to be absolutely top tier for Linux support.

Oddly enough works fine on all Chromebooks. It really is a matter of platform hardware/firmware qualification being suited to task.

even the ADL stated it was obviously not a nazi salute. please pull back from the brink and stop advocating for political violence

That means nothing, the ADL is willing to make an uneasy alliance with legitimate antisemites if it means furthering their settler colonialist project in the middle east.

he literally did it not once, but twice. i've been alive for thirty two years and done my fair share of autistic shit (programmer). But yknow what I've managed to never accidentally do? Anything even vaguely resembling a nazi salute. And yknow what? Fine, suppose for a moment it was an accident or whatever. If i were a billionaire figureheard of my company on national television in the seat of power of the free world, I would ensure I had media training and knew how to not have the international audience go "wow he just did a nazi salute, twice" if I didn't intend it. Remember George W stopping himself from saying the sound bite of "shame on me"? Elon is either literally, genuinely stupid, or he meant to do a nazi salute. And I honestly don't believe Elon is stupid from an intelligence perspective.

One last remark: if I did accidentally do a nazi salute on live television, do you know what I would do at the soonest available opportunity? Clarify that I'm not a nazi, it was an accident, and that nazis are bad. It's a surefire way to ensure you're not accidentally perceived as a nazi. Similar to how "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" really helped Dead kennedys in this regard.

He’s said several times that he’s not a Nazi. But people like you who are so steeped in tribal politics have the mindset that he’s evil, so you won’t take anything he says as anything but evil. Confirmation bias sucks ass.

The GOP and Trump himself swore up and down heading into the election that he wasn't planning to implement the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025, and yet here we are implementing it, and with several of its authors occupying senior executive branch positions. I hate to break this to you, but people are not always honest.

I've watched that a couple times and I'm pretty sure he accidentally cancelled autopilot by jerking the wheel with his hands. His hand movement lines up with the autopilot disengage. I've done that several times myself, it is deliberately sensitive to wheel torque as a manual disengagement mechanism.

the footage he posted on x does not fully match the in car footage on youtube so there was evidently multiple runs. it seems unlikely that the mirror wall could be repaired so I am left to conclude that he kept driving the tesla at the wall until he crashed through it (manually). that being said I would not be super surprised to find that a carefully crafted mirror wall would confuse autopilot. that seems to be a logical weakness of a vision based system.

EPA is a cycle of speeds with a max of about 60 MPH. The EPA range is accurate if you drive the EPA cycle in your car - which obviously no one does. I feel like everyone knows this by now.

kind of odd article to post, just feels like rage bait

I roast around 15 pounds a year. I noticed prices have gone up 1-2 dollars/pound at my main supplier (sweet marias). The average is now about $8.5/pound. That is a price I'm still comfortable with.

At my consumption level so far the price changes haven't been a big deal. It could be that high end beans haven't been as affected - or maybe that was the 'brutal' price hike.

I also roast for personal consumption, about 25 pounds per year, and concur on the price increase. Just a few years ago green coffee was in the $6.50 range (and when I started roasting about 7 years ago, even $5), but as you said more like $8.50 now. I just did a relatively large buy (about 20 pounds) as a just-in-case because it's impossible to predict what the demented orange or the ketamine-stuffed Nazi will do.

some updates here as well. https://www.space.com/news/live/boeing-starliner-live-update...

keeping my fingers crossed that everything works out. must be very tense for the astronauts.

update : issues mitigated, starliner has docked with the ISS. yes!

yeah that was absolutely incredible to watch. Starships fin was melting away like the terminator robot in the smelting pot but it still did its job. Absolutely excited about the future of humanity and spaceflight!

same

that is mostly ice. The propellent is super chilled so ice forms on the whole outside of the rocket, and then comes off during the launch and in flight.

You can also see this on the Atlas 5 + starliner launch from yesterday to a lesser degree

the video from the booster simulated landing in the ocean was incredible! It came in and did a soft landing vertically just touching the ocean, engines cut, it appeared to be floating for a second and then just kind of slowly fell over.

I did not think they would nail the booster landing this flight, as it was not stable all the way down on the last flight. Absolutely incredible watching this live

Boster was awesome, but the ship itself and watching heat dig through the fin slowly - that was one of the craziest moments I’ve seen out if all the launches :)

Boeing launch was yesterday. Every space account on X was talking about it. The ULA, Boeing, and NASA accounts were all posting about it.

Elon retweeted the livestream and wished them luck : https://x.com/elonmusk/status/1798338630471364871

He also congratulated them and retweeted a follow up post from Nasa Kennedy Space center.

Yes! my point exactly. Amazing how these posts are stifled and disappear quickly. Yet, multiple culture warrior / dogecoin accounts posting a spacex rocket photo gets pumped into my timeline.
