They really should just have a single checkbox, "Prioritise usability over wank", and leave it at that.

In fact, such buttons are becoming rare even in the physical world, the younger generation is more and more accustomed to touch buttons for operating all kinds of machinery around them. So "like a button" is very much an age thing

Looking like a "touch button" is still looking like a button. Some indication that an element is tappable is still useful.

Game consoles are still pretty popular, I don't think people are going to forget what real buttons are for at least another couple of generations.

Nah, one of the things I found in Discord's accessibility settings is an ability to turn off or reduce animations and other visual effects by default, which is wonderful no matter your ability.

Some wishfully frame HN as science and tech, others as views from smart people on complex issues of topical importance, but regardless, political overlap with science or complexity causes flagging "because politics". Forces that degrade discussion are high on political topics, but ... sheesh. A forum with high ability to contribute to rational discourse on complex issues of importance is really hamstrung by this. /rant

I feel HN approaches politics the same the field economics does, they are not involved at all execpt bascically all things in the world heavily involve politics. Tech is no exception, not wanting to overriden but news though is not a crime but this is pretty impactful news even for the tech community.

I'd love to see a modern interpretation of Terra Nova or Heavy Gear. There are few games about infantry equipped with powered battle suits and heavy weaponry, which I find sort of odd given how cool the concept is.

Helldivers 2 is probably the most vogue infantry with powered battle suits and heavy weaponry game right now.

Also I suppose almost the entire Halo franchise was always about that.
