FWIW: I created an AppEngine-based webapp (http://www.gnaught.com) to keep track of blacklisted domains and uses Google's "-site:" options in the search query. It was a weekend-project to learn about AppEngine and Python.

I'll work on adding some examples.

I did consider email tracking w/o an account, but haven't yet implemented it. At least creating an account is fairly low friction due to OpenID.

what do you do if you dont have an OpenID account? (like me)

Check out the login page: http://zend.usetrackthis.com/session/login

You can use your Google, Yahoo, AOL, Facebook, MySpace or any OpenID (Wordpress, Blogger, etc). I'd imagine most people have at least one of those accounts.

But not everyone. I don't have any of them.

I only have a Yahoo account.

Thanks, I knew it'd be a tough one to monetize, or else I would've done something earlier. Perhaps some sort of donation nag screen on the website would increase the donation rate. It definitely doesn't take a lot of resources to run, but I just wanted to gather some feedback

Awhile ago I added a thanks/pls donate direct message nag when a first-time user submits a package. The results have been pretty poor, and theres been one complaint on the Uservoice.

~20 new users daily, ~40 new packages daily, ~180 unique users with stuff being tracked, ~150 updates sent out daily

Assuming you found a way to get ads out there and then got $1 eCPM for them that's still just $50/yr or so. Probably better to use this project to promote one that has a better chance of making money. IMHO.

Charge money. Market it to businesses. You're never going to get money out of something like that from advertising, so you have to go the service route.

If you charged $5/user/month, you might have a nice little supplement to your income. Depends if people find it's worth paying for. If not, you're not going to make any money out of it.

Don't bother writing code, just let them paypal you by hand and enable their account by hand.

No, the old article was pretty weak, just a couple of lines and a link to the TechCrunch launch post.

This method of deletion (prod) is sometimes used as a way to force people/fans to improve the article. To contest the deletion all one has to do is remove the tag, and hopefully improve the article before it is sent to a full deletion discussion.

It's not even an AfD, just a prod? I just removed the tag. Now it has to go to AfD to be deleted.

I already moved the tag, this article links to a specific revision of the article, not the actual article

Rats! You win. You even beat me to undoing the damage I caused.
