I remember an interview with a basketball player while he was in Chicago for a game in which he said something like, "Chicago is so beautiful right here on the ocean"
"It’s the spookiest thing I’ve ever seen. Hey, when you build a building on the ocean, what do you expect? You expect fog. They should blame themselves for building it on the ocean."
- Oil Can Boyd on May 27 1986, after a game at Cleveland Stadium, located on the shore of Lake Erie, is postponed due to fog in the 6th inning.
Buggy. Random slowness in the UI going well below 120hz. Massive battery drain for no reason. UI elements just looking out of place, big print, random places.
The UI itself is supposed to be intense to render to some degree. That's crazy because most of the time it looks like an Android skin from 2012.
And on top of this all -- absolutely nobody asked for this. No one asked for some silly new UI that is transparent or whateveer.
I backed up and upgraded to Tahoe earlier today so I could fully immerse myself in the disaster of a release that is being reported here today. After a half day with Tahoe I simply cannot understand all the drama.
It's fine. Maybe a bit more of a departure UI wise and not as polished as the previous release but whatever, I don't see how this would cause anyone to throw in the towel on Apple and move to Linux. I've used both for years and would never chose to use Linux exclusively or even primarily.
The only thing I can think of is that emails accumulate that that means more storage must be added at the data centres, requiring more electricity use. This seems trivial compared to AI power demands to me.
Who’s screen though? Does everyone on the project code on the same size screen? What if someone has a 30” monitor and someone else wants to code on their laptop?
To add to this, Erlang is a very simple language that you can learn in just a few days. I don't know Elixir but I assume that, as is the case with Erlang, the more difficult thing to learn is OTP and not the language itself.
For me Erlang was worth learning because it's so interestingly different to many other languages because of its Prolog roots.
After reading the third link I desperately wanted to install the 1913 dictionary on my mac but the DictUnifier app that does the installation crashes. Torture!
I used a French press for many years and loved it but in the past few years I've started to prefer lighter roasts and I think the Clever dripper does those a bit better. I also think that the Clever is a tiny bit more work than a French press, not less. I'm happy to have both options, and also my Hario Switch on occasion as well.
