Who else is mourning the end of Star Trek?

IMO Star Trek is mostly dead anyways. The Orville was the best Star Trek in a very long time. Strange Worlds started so strong but season 3 and 4 really took a nose five r

I've found season 4 of SNW to be the best Star Trek in the 21st century. Can you share what you enjoyed more in its earlier seasons?

DSC and Picard were long slogs in the spirit of "grit" and "realism." SNW having fun, switching up the mood every episode, and telling stories is a breath of fresh air. Strange New Episodes! The Henson Studio collaboration was amazing. Since Netflix canned Dark Crystal, I've been missing my weird muppets traveling across time and space.

Both LD and SNW managed to get less of that Kurtzman stink compared to Academy, DSC, or the movie which shall never be named. I hope they'll let the franchise mellow until they find new direction. (And a new owner.)

* Lower Decks is the truest Trek to ever Trek, but I know that's asinine so I saved my opinion for the footnote.

* ENT was off to a good start, but the 9/11-ification of TV took it off course.

I didn't like DSC and most of Picard either, just like you because it was too gritty. Although it certainly helped that TNG is by faaar my favorite of the Treks.

I liked that season 1 and 2 of SNW felt like the stakes were lower and there were fewer gimmicky episodes. The muppet episode for me for example was a huge negative. So was the fake documentary, the Event Horizon remake and of course the double episode where they were fighting manifested evil which to be couldn't be further from the Trek spirit.

I have a hard time saying Lower Decks is my favorite Star Trek show, but it really kind of is.

Hard disagree.

Please post a link to some of this "stuff". I'm begging you.

Some of you are outright hostile towards art and it's gross.

To be fair to art, commercial movie theaters are increasingly comparable to theme parks.

art has been outright hostile to those not born with rich parents that can fund artseeking.

We in this community don't exactly fit the "tragic failed artist" archetype that well. Heck, I'm sure many of us can in fact fun artseeking now after a some 10-20+ years in the tech industry.

Instead some individuals choose to root on the end of the artist.

Where did art hurt you?

To the left of outright fascist propaganda? I'll give you that.

I'm not exactly in the chip making industry, but I don't think the big hurdle to progression is design capabilities.

Yeah that's kind of where I am too. I'm trying to take solace in the fact that I have more time to build weird gadgets with no commercial value.

I made a similar post a little bit ago. I've already held the funeral.

Yeah, but who is going to learn programming given how they can "skip the bs"?

CS students, we wrote syntax on paper during exams. Same could be done.

By BS, i mean tsconfig files and caddy boilerplate.

I've reluctantly dipped my toes into using AI for development. I make sure I understand the codebase, and I review every line of code that was changed. Honestly, I don't see what would motivate anyone to learn TypeScript, or React anymore. This is not me glazing AI (excuse me, SI) either. Software will only be vibe coded slop after the people who already know how to read code have moved on, and the industry will deserve it.

Ehhem. I think you mean SI.

I hate that I'm in deep enough to know what you mean. It really harkens back to an article title that keeps popping up in my head.

"I knew one day I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down – I just didn’t expect them to be such losers"

What does that mean in this context?
