I think there should be a political movement that retries capitalism with AI. Basically liberate everything and then automate everything. I think people could get behind that.

A system where the humans value is tied to their ability to outproduce a massively more capable machine intelligence? How does that work, exactly?

Good ole mass-starvation for the majority that can't find work that appeases the ownership class? It's a unique value-system I suppose.

Hilarious inversion of reality. Top marks.

I'm sure that hunger has been a bigger problem in Africa and India than it has been in any socialist state in our lifetimes.

Africa's dysfunction isn't due to capitalism nor would be improved by the alternatives, as evidenced by the total collapse of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe when it was taken over by collectivists. Similarly, the proportion of Indians living in extreme poverty in India has been reduced by ~90% since it shifted to a market economy around '91.

Huh, India was socialist.

Mass starvation was more of a communism thing, not accounting for wars.

Capitalism is already a planet-scale neural network optimizing a loss function: profit. The nodes in the network just happen to be humans.

Capitalism with AI would be exactly the same thing, but zero compassion (unless the AI has been trained for it).

Another Dane here, and that is absolutely not true. Where's your source to back up this claim? (I'll show you mine if you show me yours)

> Where's your source to back up this claim?

Feel. Having lived in Denmark and Germany. And working for the public sector.

MitID is just chefs kiss how many other countries can you log in to your bank, student loan, and local municipality with the same sso. Country wide app for local transportation tickets of different types. EPJ / Elektronisk Patient Journal has it's fault, but compared to other countries[2] yet again not that bad.

Shit man, even something simple has going to the doctor for blood tests. I think you can get the results on the same day via app. Maybe next day. In Germany[1] you have to wait a few days, then the Dr. calls you with the results and then you can ask him if he can mail it to you.

What in Denmark actually requires you to get physically to the municipality? Weddings? Even divorces work online. Compare that to Germany, Austria, Italy etc.

Why do you think Denmark is not one of the leading countries in digitalization?

[1] Probably dependens on location / Bundesland.

Edit: Just looked at some real benchmarks. One from EU where they put DK at 7th out of EU27 https://composite-indicators.jrc.ec.europa.eu/explorer/indic... And one UN E-Government Survey from 2024 where they rank first. https://publicadministration.un.org/egovkb/en-us/Reports/UN-... (I just looked at an overview)

I can't say how accurate these lists are. But they match my observations. Nordics lead.

> And working for the public sector.

Ah - there we go..

Meanwhile living in Denmark we are not even able to get results for blood panels from our 14 year old daughter cause "the system was not made for it". You know I'd much rather have it in the mail than not at all.

Even so, we tried to get a MitID for her so hopefully she could log in to see them. How do we do that you ask? Meet up physically. Did they fuck it up the first time? Sure, but luckily only a week later we were able to get a time hoping we'd now be able to get access to her blood panels. Nope. Logging in with her MitID says she is not old enough to see her blood panels. How long has it been like this? More than 5 years.. But luckily a law was passed in 2023 to do something about it.. Has it happened yet? No, but it doesn't matter.. She'll be 15 before it's implemented anyway.

I could go on with similar stories from almost every system I have to touch in Denmark.

Yeah, I believe you.

But it's still worse in a lot of other countries.

MitID is great. It was developed and is still largely operated by the banking sector though. Though to be fair, the public sector was wise enough to adopt it rather than build their own. If you look at actual public sector projects like the recent taxation system for property tax you'll find things are quite a bit different.

It is consumer demand if consumers stop buying the 62.5g bar because prices had to be increased for them to make a profit. If they instead keep the price while lowering the weight and consumers keeps buying how can you say that there was no demand?

How is this different from https://holepunch.to/ ?

Holepunch, formerly hypercore, formerly dat, is a great project. Their main language is js, which makes it difficult to embed into anything but js/ts applications.

Also, they are very principled when it comes to peer to peer purity, whereas iroh is a bit more pragmatic. We use dedicated relays to faciliate hole punching, whereas holepunch tries to use other peers as a temporary relay for hole punching messages.

Another difference is that holepunch have their own DHT, where we have a less decentralised address lookup service by default and use the mainline DHT as a fully p2p alternative.

So TLDR if you are doing js in the browser, holepunch.to might be a good fit. If you work on native mobile apps or embedded devices, iroh will be better since it is pretty frugal. If you work with node.js, both will work. Just evaluate them both and use what works better for you.

E.g. we support tiny embedded devices such as esp32. https://www.iroh.computer/blog/iroh-on-esp32

Thank you so much for the great reply! Answered all my questions - will definitely look closer!

Correction. Only 5% admit to smoking

I made Type Nine for iPhone, and have waited a long time for Apple to open up for doing it on the watch.

PS. I typed this under my desk!

Oh neat! Bookmarked

Probably because you aren't using Sin

It's surprising how far there is from discovery to production for these kinds of things. It's 14 years ago now that I designed the front cover for Advanced Energi Materials[1] wherein my friend described his similar discovery of the incredible properties of LiMnO4 with Carbon Nanotubes. Even though he had it working with measurable improvements in the 20-40x range he said it would take 10-20 years to reach a state for mass production.

I wasn't surprised the least. But I am also a hardware guy. Going into production with such new technologies means first making aure it is even feasible for mass production and long term use. There are ways to speed up these tests, but if you need a battery to last 10+ years, you will only be able to speed it up by so much — especially if it is new experimental tech.

If it is, there are probably multiple intermediate small scale experiments and then the tooling and production line technology might still need to be developed as well. Someone in a lab making a theoretical discovery is not the same as something making sense commercially in the slightest.

Just use Type Nine! https://www.typenineapp.com Write a comment if you want some free promo codes.

Shameless plug, but back in 2014 trying to play with swift I made Type Nine, and I'm still using it to this day[1]

I also did a few other experiments that I unfortunately haven't had time to explore further[2]

I just installed it and it seems really promising. Glad you shared it here.

I’ve spent more time than I care to admit searching for a good keyboard app in the App Store, and I’ve tried a lot of them. This one never surfaced for me in any of my usual searches, which is a shame (likely more on Apple’s search than on you).

I really like the T9-style approach, and I appreciate the clean App Privacy section and straightforward privacy policy.

Thanks a lot! I haven't done much on the marketing side, but I always felt it had great potential.

It needs a little tlc to align with the latest iOS update changes, but my time is too limited at the moment.
