You’ve got the perfect wrong. The good is plug-in hybrid with 40 miles range and 1/8th the battery. 8 built for every electric car. Solves 90% of personal transportation needs with electric alone. The fox on full electric is criminal imho.
It’s still probably not doing anything, chlorine readily evaporates out of water left in a pitcher. It’s a common technique used by indoor growers of certain plants - leave a bucket out for a day.
I can taste the water 5 minutes after it goes through the filter. The chlorine is gone. (Which is not the case if I pour it into a glass.) It has nothing to do with how long it sits around for.
I find it strange you're insisting filters don't work when one can tell from taste that they clearly do. And scientifically, activated carbon absorbs chlorine -- that's not a myth. So everything checks out.
Sure, they work for chlorine, but there are plenty of other issues (arsenic, PFCs, other VOCs, glyphosates, TTHMs, lead for non 'Elite' Brita filters) that Brita filters are woefully inadequate to address.
Actually, NYC is a major concern in terms of water quality because it's very common for buildings to have old plumbing that releases trace heavy metals, and many buildings use rooftop water reservoirs that are a common source of organic contaminants (and occasionally cause building-wide outbreaks of things like legionella).
Similar issues exist in most 'older' US cities. I started becoming worried about my water filter efficacy after moving to downtown DC and learning that a significant portion of the municipal water supply's last mile piping contains lead, and that while the municipal water is safe at the source, water in DC housing is often heavily contaminated by lead and other compounds resulting from the use of extremely aged pipe infrastructure.
I am not weighing in on the article or any commentary with this statement…You don’t sound healthy and might want to do a little self evaluation. Never leaving the house, not trusting anyone, thinking your wife is glitching, all sound outside the norm, even if what you are observing is true. You should still be able to do basic risk analysis and leave the house.
Maybe I was being a little dramatic and hyperbolic for effect.
I don’t mean I never leave the house. I go to concerts and the zoo with my kids and whatever. I went on vacation across the country the other day. None of those things are helping me discern what’s going on in the world, unless “Disneyworld is a fun place” and “the ocean is a nice place to laze around” count as my lived experience.
The builder of the new neighborhood going up near me uses these techniques for all rooflines. They still frame on site for flooring and walls, but they crane on pre built trusses for the roofs, built nearby.
My guess is that you come across as either a eeyore or an asshole. I do not know you and you don’t give enough information in your post, however I can’t think of any other reason you wouldn’t be hirable, unless you are unrealistic about your own skills and capabilities. If you are open to suggestions, I would recommend spending a significant amount of effort on the “how to win friends and influence people” side of the equation.
I will hire the nice optimistic less skilled engineer over the mopey, pessimistic, more experienced engineer every day of the week.
I used to think the same thing, but tried a continuous glucose monitor. I found out steel cut oats were actually really bad for my glucose levels, spiking them into unhealthy levels around 160. More than whole wheat bread and other carbs.
Obviously this is highly subjective from person to person however reading other anecdotal evidence from people who have used a CGM, it’s pretty common.
In other words don’t assume it’s a low glycemic food because the internet says it is.
i am the owner of a bootstrapped and now 30+ person company, with three kids at home. it took something like 7 years of 10-12 hour days to get our business off the ground, with many many many 7 day work weeks.
now post-startup, i barely have time to keep things going at the level required to maintain excellence, while not neglecting my young family. lots of push/pull around work, and lots of arguments and frustration with my wife. i honestly couldn't imagine getting a new business off the ground right now, where you have to do everything.
Anon account so not going into details, but stumbled into it hobbying and realized there could be a market. Cranked at it to the exclusion of everything else and made it work.
This is a very cynical take and I would recommend some self reflection. I know for a fact you can make lifelong friends from shared interests. I’ve done it, I have friends who have done it. Maybe it’s harder for some but it is absolutely common.
I mean, I was member of sports teams. Sometimes lifelong friendship evolves, but it is not nearly automatic nor super frequent.
Way more likely is that when people stop going for whatever reason, the relationship ends. Getting injured or sick or having new kid and less time or whatever all means you disappear.
What part of that observation is about a skill or desire? I mean, I am describing what I observed to happen to people around me. If too many of them are "not skilled enough", then maybe it is not just about individual failures.
Don’t leave out the old Volkswagens! 7.5k on the tach on my 2.0 16v, very commonly pushed into mid 8s if you end up going to solid lifters and a set of cams.
I agree though, nothing quite like a small 4 banger revving the moon.
