That's entirely fair and reasonable if you level your complaints about power and water use at everything that uses a lot rather than just data centres.
If you're only saying we need fewer data centres then your argument is against AI, and not in favor of sensible approach to the climate.
We could also just stop giving bad corporations money. I can assure you it's the thing that they absolutely hate the most and 10x as effective as trying to write legislation.
this works less and less as corporations buy from each other and everybody has things like pensions/401k and investments. there are also many who will buy shit regardless. it's just ignoring the reality of the situation, really.
Companies aren't earning the majority of profit from your average joe buying products anymore. The consumers are investors: Rich assholes with too much money, gamblers, and true believers. It's a lot like how McDonalds true income comes not from consumers but from holding and renting out valuable plots of land.
Me too! (except for a new work tree) If I don't gate on the git commits it's too hard to catch the code and algorithmic errors.
I had to add some pretty severe harness restrictions for the disastrous Claude 5 line to get it to follow directions on that (ended up cancelling my sub over that sort of behavior, and the bad use of human language)
Don't do that! v041 has been compromised upstream by a supply chain attack and big fan doesn't want us to know. You have to use v040 until it has been fixed. Also, used the hacked flashing software because the official version is spyware. Did you even read page 723 of the support thread?? I can give you more info when I am done patching my toaster.
