My take is this is mostly a takeout of Amazon’s trainium program, helping Nvidia to cull competition from Amazon in its infancy.

Up until the date of the announcement, poolside was one of Amazon’s largest trainium customers, other than anthropic. This investment from Nvidia kicks one of the legs out from Amazon’s already rickety AI accelerator stool. 40 K in Blackwell GPUs is expensive even with the Nvidia investment. Poolside will likely not have the money to spend an equivalent amount now with Amazon.

Deloitte just bought like 400k Claude enterprise licenses. Bad example.

You could argue about the causality here.

Which business unit were you in?

WWPS

Nitrated explosives are detectable by airport security scanners. Dogs also pick up the scent of nitrates in seconds.

Buying a 15 capacitor off Amazon for my AC condenser saved me $500 last summer.

Pickles lol. With that name, you’ll always be remembered.

Does Amazon actually have talent and resources though?

Not any more. Majority of talent got fired. Whoever is hired now will be gone in a couple years (says the internal tracking software that tells you how "new" you are across all of Amazon). That kind of churn ensures no real progress can be made.

Just throw Alexa away already. It's a wrap.

The actually good people left long before anyone got fired.

Here here. Couldn’t have described AWS better.

$1.8B for a national AI plan… wow… That will buy 1/5th of the GPUs that Meta bought this year.

What's worse is that the Liberals have a tendency to promise money for all sorts of programs and they are very slow to deliver that money to many of them.

And yet that money seems to disappear to somewhere. Definitely not in any politician's pocket's since they've been giving themselves raises, every year, for the last few years.
