Probably related to "we are getting away with it in the current climate" just like with the PS5.

Any pointers on what exactly you miss compared to Linux alternatives like Kate, Sublime, VSCode, etc? (Assuming you already tried them)

Sublime I like, but is proprietary (and there was something else). VScode is too heavy, kate as well. (But maybe with kate I just need to modify the key bindings so they match what I am used to, I only recently tried it out)

Basically, I want code folding(with option to collapse all the tree), macrorecording, search (replace) in files, but with all the goodies notepadd++ provides, where I can easily set the folder to search, what filepatterns to exclude etc.

Zed?

Sure, but maybe your red herring is just another red herring: the phishing attack is just as good an excuse as any to switch from an US based messenger to an EU based one.

> Should 2026 computers have a ISA interface as well?

Fun fact: Yes! Basically all still do, because TPM chips are connected to the CPU via ISA.

See for example: https://hackaday.com/2023/03/23/isa-over-tpm-to-your-pc/

> The framework 12 is comparable in cost to a macbook neo

No it isnt, not by a long shot! Only if you buy the basic entry level version (DIY) without any RAM, storage, ports or a charger. At which point we arent remotely talking about the same thing anymore!

It's approx £80 to £100 more for the same ram and SSD configuration as a £600 MacBook neo (No charger given in many countries as most people have a usb c charger). That's comparable. It's not a huge difference and the feature set is far greater for the framework.

(£545 with the device with ports, £80 for the ram £50 for the SSD.)

Are these edu prices? Or is frameworks EU pricing just nuts?

Here a comparable configuration to the neo is close to 800€!

I'm sensing the EU prices are just high as Framework don't offer edu prices.

Of course you do, thats how fire brigades work!? Though you are somewhat right, its closer to only 1.1 million firefighters across the US.

Better yet, keep it inside and save big on heating!

Easy, fs.com has 1.6Tbps OSFP for about 570€ - though only up to 1m lenght apparently.

I was looking into the highest bandwidth optical transceivers. 400Gbps were easy enough to find so thanks for posting this. I honestly didn't know there were 1.6Tbps transceivers like this.

One note: I believe the SMF max fiber length is 2km not 1m [1]. The data sheet [2] also says:

> - 2000m max on single mode fiber

Also reminds me of the rollable map screen from Red Planet (2000).

Do iphones not have "increase touch sensitivity" as a setting? Thats all I had to do for my dad for him to be able to easily use it again, on a samsung though.

There are also phones with buttons again, the unihertz titan 2 elite looks good btw. Or Clicks addon keyboards.
