They can take all of Florida.

> The above is just locker room talk which probably 90% of American men have participated in.

I've found that sort of talk is vanishingly rare. It probably depends on what your particular social circle is like, though.

That Teslas are surveillance platforms makes it that much more satisfying to flip the bird at every one that I see.

People keep saying stuff like that, but I'd love to see some sort of evidence that it was ever a real problem.

Trump is frustrated that Zelesnky isn't willing to go along with his plan to sell out Ukraine and make a wider regional war more likely?

Good. Keep frustrating him.

I don't believe him. Musk is in charge, but I hope that once Musk is done with his part in inflicting very serious damage on our nation and Trump throws him under the bus, nobody will forget that Trump is claiming responsibility for it now.

He won't be thrown under the bus. Unlike those that Trump typically uses and tosses away, Elon is extremely rich, well connected, controls a major media platform, and also has direct connections to his allies in Moscow. Additionally, the threat of Elon in government keeps the other tech oligarchs in line.

What difference does it make. He is a lame duck who is performing his remaining elderly acts. There will be no reckoning for Trump.

Trump is the one that will be thrown under the bus.

Vance will be America's last president.

Musk will be supreme leader of America's successor state and off-world colonies.

There will be no off-world colonies, at least not within our (or Musk's) lifetime.

Nothing that DOGE (or Musk or Trump) says can be taken as truth. Without independent data analysis, we simply don't know what's going on.

I don't know what the Verge would prefer, but I'd prefer that People not run a PR fluff piece that is obviously part of her plan to convince people she's not a piece of shit. They're not reporting news or commenting on some new development. There's nothing informative to be reported. It's just a PR piece.

They're trying to distract us so they can more easily strip us of our freedom, liberty, money, and even morality.

I wonder why they don't give the US the same courtesy they give other nations and at least provide both names, one in parenthesis. Not that it matters much, this name thing is just distracting nonsense. I'll never stop calling it by its correct name anyway. It doesn't matter what Trump wants. He's not my boss.

> one in parenthesis

This is what I see. Estonian Google (possibly EU-wide?) shows 'Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America)'. In Estonian, 'Mehhiko laht (Ameerika laht)'.

I don't see why any European version of Maps needs to show the American name at all.

https://www.google.com/maps/place/Mehhiko+laht+(Ameerika+lah...

The solution that would liberate Google and not generate confusion and hostility would be for Estonians to use a European mapping service. Better yet, an Estonian one.

I expect that if you’re in Mexico using Google Maps it will still show “Gulf of Mexico.”

Political boundaries vary in different countries and google maps shows the border differently between India and China depending on where you are using the app.

It’s just a variable name. Different countries call the same thing by different names.

Supposedly Apple is renaming it globally: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-02-11/apple-is-...

The UKs view of The Gulf Of Mexico in Google Maps is this, I should check which is first though.

They do, if you're not in the US and subject to Trump's whims.

I know. That's why I said that I wished they'd extend the US the same courtesy they extend other nations. Trump can't force them not to, they're choosing not to.
