To also add, I have tried contacting DPD again today, who tell me that Google haven't raised an investigation yet - despite them assuring me they had done so last week Friday.

Yup, which updated to "sorry there has been an unexpected issue". When I contacted them they told me I had to tell Google to raise an investigation, as it's not normal for the tracking to stop updating. I don't know if the order was stolen, or the driver had an issue but at this point with no useful information I just want to cut my losses.

I'm no expert at this, but I would have thought it a more solid case to demand the goods, which after all is what you wanted, until there is evidence they won't be delivered. Less likely to raise suspicion? I may be wrong.

Either way it seems "an investigation" is needed, which despite claims to the contrary made late last week, google have not done yet.

At this point, it seems clear that the item has been lost/stolen, but I'm still in the same impasse whether or not I ask for a refund or a replacement. A black box of heavily-scripted "support" that can't actually reassure me that this is being looked at.

Just to add, I have heard horror stories of entire google accounts being nuked in retaliation for disputing the transaction. So I'm hesitant to do that until I can untangle myself from google services.

Also in the UK, using FF on MacOS via BT FTTP. I got the same. I had to turn on my VPN to Germany to access the video.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but can someone please explain what this reply means? It isn't the first time I've seen "* * *" and I'm wondering what it's significance is?

I'm not sure what you're referring to, on my screen it's a normal comment lamenting that the quality of reddit will continue to decline after they IPO

Odd, maybe it's a quirk of the harmonic app, as I can see a normal comment now. Please ignore my previous reply.

I believe @dang has addressed this before. You see it when someone has configured a "delay" (see the input field at the bottom of your settings page [0]) which is an integer value representing the number of minutes before which your comment is "published" (visible to other users) - it's meant to be a short window of time where you can edit your comment before anyone has seen it. Once the delay has expired, other users will see the comment.

I've personally never observed it, but I use the HN website, which I think just doesn't render the comment during the delay period. IIRC, you'll see the asterisks when viewing comments in alternative clients that fetch them from the API.

Thank you very much for the explanation, that makes sense.

I’m aged 31, and completely relate. I think it really started with my current role but I haven’t been able to pinpoint when exactly, having been here just shy of 2.5 years now. I’ve lost count of the Sunday nights I’ve had filled with dread for the week ahead, or feeling a failure for not completing work quickly enough. Current COVID situation hasn’t made things any easier really. I often fantasise about leaving tech altogether, I feel like I’m slowly losing the mental energy needed to keep going day by day. Unfortunately, this is the only area in skilled in and with a partner to support I feel I need to think very carefully even though I’d like nothing more than to just resign tomorrow.

Echoing what others have said, I have found exercise helpful at times to quiet feelings of anxiety and stress, but I do still feel things lingering at the back of my mind at the beat of times.

No doubt cheaper to reuse the existing iPhone 8 chassis. Probably a fair bit cheaper to manufacture at this point too.

Is this the UK by any chance?
