If you weren't against building site based on WordPress, a nice addition to the job board software list would be JobEngine: http://www.enginethemes.com/themes/jobengine

I think its design is quite more modern than most of the other players in the field. Here is the demo site: http://demo.enginethemes.com/jobengine

Prof. Thrun was part of the team that used laser range-finders to assist the image stitching in StreetView. Since both sensors (rangefinders and cameras) were mounted on a mobile vehicle, wheel odometry and GPS "ground truth" must have been available at each waypoint as well. The author of the post suggested that Google might have used the GPS data (and possibly rangefinders) to create a simulated world to teach the self-driving car (useful for testing new tweaks?). This is a good idea and probably did not take them a lot of effort given the available log of data from StreetView.

Actually, you can rent movies and watch on your desktop (streamed through Youtube) or rent/buy books.

I would classify watching a full-length movie on a desktop/laptop computer as being pretty close to worthless.

My home television is driven solely by an ubuntu desktop. Works brilliantly. What's your qualm with such a setup? I've never been happier with a home entertainment solution.

None at all, I was talking about watching full-length movies on a desktop monitor / laptop screen. Sorry for the confusion.
