i like big ass

so much MCPs in the FTA yet not a line about what MCP actually is.

Most people using pi probably know. MCP is “model context protocol”, a protocol by which models can connect to apis and services and conversely a way to expose those apis and services so they can be used by llms and agents. https://modelcontextprotocol.io/docs/2026-07-28/getting-star...

1. The first paragraph has a callback and link 2. You're not the intended audience of the post most likely

It's just like API-s, but with built in documentation.

API + RPC

If you don't know MCP by now that's between you and google

MCP is the NIH non-standard version of OpenAPI.

i heard a lot of AI and LLM is in python?

Python is often used as (very useful!) glue for calling CUDA, C, C++, Fortran, etc… codes.

So, if you are thinking about the sort of “business logic” that’s often Python, but the performance comes from the parts that are usually not.

well you'd be surprised how much of that glue becomes logic and eats up the ground water.

As glue language for the actual work implemented in a mix of C, C++, Fortran and more recently Rust.

Just that Python culture has a strange way to call bindings to native code, "Python libraries".

Yes, but the numerical backend of the python libraries are written in lower-level languages. For example, pytorch uses a C++ backend.

You heard correctly. This discussion is about C++ though.

Bumblebees shouldn’t be able to fly; they do anyways.

yeah, a lot of people are just watching 1 video after another.

unless its the mrna covid vaccine. which needed how many months?

This is so tiring.

u are so tiring too.

music is so safe. ai generated music hasnt made a dent yet?

Its good enough to replace most stock music, or a jingle in a commercial or a quick musical hit at the beginning of a video or show. Also if you combine a knowledgeable producer with AI they can use it to make more things faster which puts pressure on supply and prices out smaller producers.

stock music. u mean muzak? maybe it would be called muzlop.

you would think given harmony and counterpoint so well understood, AI would be composing symphonies by now that famous orchestras would Q to play?

What if AI is everywhere in music but nobody openly admits it?

That's definitely the case in games as well. Most places, like Steam, now have 'AI disclosure' fields, but they do nothing but incentivize lying, because just about everybody is using it, but nobody wants to be associated with the slop that you can produce using it, so nobody wants to admit it. Those disclosure fields should really just go away as they serve no productive purpose.

there must be a trope by now for article titles sounding interesting yet scratch the surface and its only about AI.

i recall mcenroe said serena couldnt be considered greatest of all time in tennis regardless of sex because she wouldnt even beat a man ranked inside the top 100. he said she'd herself be ranked somewhere at 700.

we arent even talking about women only asked to play 3 sets vs men playing 5 sets (at least in slams).

I think McEnroe was very unfair, and that men and women can be completely equal in technique and skill, even if not in physicality. But in my opinion, the women's game is what you watch if you want _even more_ tennis, or perhaps you really like the story lines of your favorite athletes for whatever reason. Similar to watching Formula 1 is just being a regular sports fan, but watching the Formula 2 season marks you as a slightly obsessive motorhead.

truth is unfair.

i'd thought an npc wud mov out of town to a town with no dragons.

congrats, but Tcl is enough for me.

Seeing a lot of mentions of Tcl over the past couple days. Why so much love? When do you reach for it?

because its the integrated scripting language in my app. great for setting things in the app and can do things like

proc a {} { puts "a"}

proc b {} { puts "b"}

set c a

$c ;# prints a

set c b

$c ;# prints c
