What? How are you gonna communicate with anything without speaking? The LLM will keep showing you videos and you will draw it pictures of what you want?

Actually search still grew 12% yoy last quarter

> Was it the culture, as others here pointed out? Or did I just get busy with other things?

Culture or no culture LLMs killed SO for good, there's simply no need for it anymore

If not yen I for sure have that in Iranian currency I guess

What the hell is this Xit

Exit Twitter

Out, damnéd xit! out, I say!

I feel like you want to condemn all Israelis for some sick reason

This is an inversion of morality. Of course I condemn the genocide of Palestinians, apartheid, land theft, Zionist terrorism in Lebanon, and so on…

None of the Israeli candidates condemn those things, which are also supported by the majority of Israelis according to every poll.

There's a huge opposition to Bibi's government in Israel and unfortunately the American president is actively colluding in our election and even threatens Israelis - who are generally terrified, that Iran may destroy them and that he probably won't do anything about Iran unless Bibi is re-elected (!).

As for genocide, "Zionist terrorism" etc that's your worldview not how I see reality.

> Parents should focus on enabling their children to be: Curious; Resourceful; Self-reliant (to feel they have agency in the world); Compassionate; Value personal integrity, themselves, their ideas / wishes, and time on the planet; Able to cooperate, communicate, and work as a team; Able to make sacrifices for the future versions of themselves ("I'm having a bad day today, what can I do to make tomorrow me have a better day?"); Able to enjoy life and find fulfillment (however small) even in bad times.

Could be nice to have if the parents knew how to do all that themselves ...

This list is my notes on what I'd like to be able to pass on after my limited 10 years of parenting. That learning process has been primarily an exercise about where I, too, need to develop. Parenting... you do your best even though it's not enough.

I'd also add that I struggled with the word 'teach' or 'guide' and settled on 'enable'. Different kids (and parents) have different intrinsic abilities or interest in each of these categories. Doing your best to make it at least possible for a child to see the value of them and possibly even make progress is already a great accomplishment.

Don't get me wrong I like that list and agree with everything in it. I just think, as others have said, kids are smart. They pick up on our shit and unfortunately internalize a lot of our values, insecurities, biases, anxieties.

You can't really teach/enable any of that stuff for real without living it yourself and being an example - which is very difficult because most of us weren't really raised that way ourselves, so we're not like that.

I'm not so sure what my point is other than that change is very difficult and raising children is difficult and raising them to be genuinely good people will be very hard without change.

Amen. When I realized this, it let me chill out a lot as a parent of smol kids. There's as many good parents as there are good people, is my rough heuristic now. So I try to focus on being a good person, the rest is at the margins.

So , perhaps not a huge shocker but Trump has officialy endorsed Bibi as next prime minister in the upcoming elections. Not only endorsed, he's threatening Israelis things won't be good if they don't choose Bibi:

"If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so"

So, he's threatening Israelis if they don't vote Bibi he's gonna let Israel handle Iran on its own.

I can't express how damaging this is to the chances of replacing Bibi, very difficult moment for those of us in Israel who wanted to see him go - or in the very least wanted to see a neutral election where the leader of the free world doesn't intervene and threaten them to vote Bibi or else.

> You think fully half the population of Israel opposes the current government and the actions of the settlers?

Well we know with a certainty that more than half of Israelis oppose this government by quite a majority, the current government can't get re-elected. As for what Israelis think about the violence in the territories - I don't have numbers but yes I think the vast majority opposes it. It might surprise you but it is being reported on almost daily in the major Israeli news media with an extremely alarmist and negative tone (which it should). Perhaps it's self serving (every Israeli with 2 brain cells understands what this is doing to our reputation and our longterm ability to survive) but I truly believe it just contradicts most Israeli's morals.

You will find very few people say it's cool to attack some elderly reporter or some shepherd kid just tending to his goats. They exist for sure but I don't think they're that many.

BTW I'm even surprised to see opinion pieces by very prominent and quite radical figures in the settlement movement (Hagai Segal, Benzi Lieberman to name a few) calling to stop with this shit.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment.

In the context of the upthread comment made not by myself which I appear to have taken on the task of clarifying as best I can ... that quoted statement probably really should be about the percentage of the Israeli population that { oppose the current government AND oppose settlement (not just the extreme actions) AND are prepared to leave and move elsewhere }.

It's good to see a growth of internal opposition to the extremes of Israel action against Palestine; that's something that in an ideal world should have been far stronger a good many years past.

Arguably both sides here have been guilty since the get go of not reining in their more extreme and likely more traumatised members; both understandable and escalatory in an arc that has lead to where things are today.

So ... low?
