I was under the impression that the point of strict types was that the code wouldnt compile/run with wrong type information.

This _is_ how strict types work. Problems creep in when people introduce lax types into the strict type system.

dict[str, Any] is a type, and sometimes it is the right type to specify, but most of the time it's used by someone who wants to shut up the type checker rather than think about the right type.

It is very hard to work with developers who see the type system as a nuisance to overcome.

And in software problems like that tend to compound. It’s hard to imagine how much badly written, poorly performing software there is out there.

The opportunity to do better with AI is monumental; comes with its own problems no doubt, but I’m willing to give it a shot.

In my case it's actually that there was no type annotation for the first N years of the project (long before I joined) and a couple people started using them in advisory mode but with no enforcement.

Just a huge mess. One reason I'm not a big fan of python for large projects.

I find the english perhaps a little too rigid when reading it for non technical manuals. I do agree though it is definitely LESS slop.

He needs to dream a little bigger darling. Hes not thinking evil enough.

Yes. But that is work, time and money.

They don't want to sacrifice any of that.

We have had very... different experiences with stadia. It was not at all useful gor low latency games..

It is not suitable for competition ranked players. The average player will stomp over high ranked players.

Most people are not competition ranked players, they’re people who like to play a few hours of a game now and again.

I agree, but i play a few hours of games, now and again.. competitively.

What i wouldn't give for the same socks to be available for 10 years though.

Tiny language models.

There is no violence, because the pinata is not alive.

There is no more violence in hitting a nail with a hammer.

It may be easier, instead of a serial cable, use a IDE hard disk drive.

You can still purchase IDE USB caddies for your modern system to write to.

Libvirt isn't even difficult, were they trying ?
