Actually, TeX is written in WEB and can be "tangled" into different programming languages. It used to be tangled to Pascal originally, but nowadays ctangle produces C directly.

Repeating a comment I belatedly made in another thread about sanctioned people:

Looking at it from the reverse side, I am not sure many people are aware of the underlying business risk: if you do business with this individual (or others in a similar situation), you risk being associated with them and suffer similar consequences.

Question to the HN crowd that sells services online: do you check/vet every one of your customers against the Entity List?

Asking as a non-American: have any businesses (restaurants, bars, ...) ever tried operating with a no-tip-necessary policy? To see whether customers reward this business model?

Looking at the comments, can a business operate with transparent, "this is what you will pay at the end" prices shown (which include everything like taxes)? Is this even allowed?

Ehmm... MongoDB is not open source.

Well, you don't know me, but I can assure there exists at least one person (me), who bought a Nissan Micra CVT in 1993 and still uses it, and they had never had any issue with the CVT. The rest of the car obviously shows its age, but CVT has never been a problem.

Hi, I'm the author of the above. I also got a Sony A7 IV camera a few days ago. I already have a root shell on it. Although that wasn't even required to break Sony's C2PA implementation...

I'll write more about this in the future.

Oh, uk.co definitely existed for companies. The other 2nd-level domain (besides the academic uk.ac and uk.co) was uk.mod (Ministry of Defence), equivalent to the US .mil. And then, because life is never this simple, things appeared that were neither universities nor companies nor military, so uk.bl was given to the British Library. There might have been others as well, I don't remember.

Back then the code in various pieces of software had hand-written exceptions for domain processing. The joke was that all Computer Science departments in the UK (uk.ac.university-name.cs) ended up in Czechoslovakia.

For this exact reason, I'm using Immich by pointing it to my folder structure as an "external library" https://docs.immich.app/features/libraries/
