They used to joke about only those company making money are Rails. So why haven't Github, Shopify, Twitch, Groupon or others pour any resources in ? Ruby is slow, at least from a Web Development perspective, Rails is VERY slow. So both together combined makes things a little bit bad. Look at the boring stack from StackExchnage https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12790650 https://twitter.com/Nick_Craver/status/790527231600787456 Any Rails Shop would be happy if they could hit 3x those numbers even with caching.

GitHub does; Tenderlove works on Ruby there!
